Companion App and Bungie.net Feedback
Hey everyone. The companion team wants to get your feedback on the companion app and Bungie.net. John and Stosh are designers on the companion team and we wanted to take some time to have a discussion about the companion app's features and experiences. Tell us what you like, what you don't, and what you would prefer to see added/changed in the future. Thanks!

I said it before and I’ll say it again, just so you can wrap your head around it. WE NEED THE PRE-D2 FORMAT BACK! Or at least give us an option to switch between our D1 and D2 characters. The old format was so much more smooth and easier to use. You made this app more complicated than it needed to be. Ever hear the saying: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? You should really repeat this saying until it sinks in. And Destiny 2 itself is just as bad. I stopped playing after CoO. I may or may not play again when the new expansion comes out, depending on whether or not it actually improves the game. Also, you’d be surprised by the amount of people who still play D1. The tower is crowded with players, half of which are actually veterans with 5000+ grimoire. I’m even a member of a clan called “D2 is bad”, a small but thriving band of players who still love and play destiny 1. Many have gone back to D1 because D2 is even more broken than its predecessor. I’m gonna stop ranting now, but I will finish saying that I am not happy with the current companion app and the game it supports.

I preferred D1 ability to get info and move gear here at bungie.net....I don't really care for apps

3 RespuestasYou could stop treating Destiny 1 like a disowned bastard stepchild. Many of us went back to Destiny 1 after being disappointed by Destiny 2. Seeing no updates regarding D1's Nightfall, Crucible, Prison of Elders, etc. isn't cool. [b][u]Destiny 1 is still a game people play.[/u][/b] More now than ever (I've never seen the tower so full)... [b][u]Destiny 1 still exists.[/u][/b]

Can we have access to private group forums again? It never made sense to take this feature away in the first place, and it only resulted in making private groups even more irrelevant. Can we get an update that POSITIVELY effects private groups for once? The Bungie.net community is dead because of all of the unnecessary updates that have happened since "bungie.next" in 2013. The community forum has literally transformed into a recruitment forum. If you want to make Bungie.net better, make it more like it used to be (AKA [url]halo.bungie.net[/url]). People used to love this place, but you guys took away almost every feature we loved. The sense of community is dead and private groups are dead. And all of this was preventable if you would have listened to the Bungie.net community while all of us were still here.

The Destiny 2 app feels clunky and cumbersome. Like a precursor to the easy to use & straight forward Destiny 1 app. Which a lot of people prefer.

As a clan admin, I would personally like some clan management tools. More specifically one that will let us view when a player last logged on. I currently keep track of all out members (close to 90) on a excel worksheet. We like to see that members are active weekly but have recently given some slack because of the state of Destiny 2. I currently have to click on a members name check the players game history and then enter the last game play date. The information is there just not as accessible as I would like. I don’t check activity everyday just a week after content or event releases to see who is coming back for what. 2. I’ve mention this before, in a previously forgotten post, a clan recruitment section for your console type. Nothing is more frustrating than finding that player looking for a clan and after reading all their information, (yes I read their post and try to relate to the person on why we’re a fit for them, along with my copy and paste post), only to find out they are on Xbox. (We are a PS4 exclusive clan). At least make it mandatory to post it in the title or add it as a filter. I’m sure it works the other way for those member looking for a clan as well. I believe you already have a system in use for the LFG post so I’m hoping it would be easy to carry over into the LookingForClan posts as well. Edit: In the new Find Fireteam function, bring back a language preference.

2 RespuestasWhen groups and clans were separated, a group I admin for lost the ability to take in new group members unless we leave the group completely open for anyone to join without admin approval, which we do not want to do. We’ve posted on the forums before, and a mentor reached out to get more information, but it’s never been fixed or addressed since. We’d really like our group to function on bnet again, please!!!

Only thing is, nobody knows it exists, haha. You guys sneaked in a great upgrade and didn't tell anyone so no one is using it. I'd love to see a front page post promoting it. An Instagram/YouTube video featuring it would be great too. I think a lot more people would use it. Excelsior!

But I think the team has done a great job improving the overall user experience and adding functionality to the app. I especially like the ability to customize gear straight from the app. Although this is limited only to what's on your character. It would be great if we could customize gear that is also stored in the Vault. Some of the shaders also display inaccurate colors in the 3D view. Suros Tone, for example, is displayed as hot pink. So maybe a review of each shader in 3D view is necessary. Reviewing gear is easy with a variety of options to organize everything. But a counter of how many items are in your backpack or Vault would be a useful addition. Also, being able to move consumables would be great. I'll just finish by saying that the Companion App has improved so much that I've been using it over Ishtar Commander. I think that's a good indication of how far it's come since the start. Kudos to those guys on the team for stepping up and improving it in every aspect.

1 RespuestaThe app was great for the first Destiny. Why the hell you guys keep breaking what isn’t broke is beyond us. Seeing how many kills we had with weapon types, vendor levels, grimoire cards, 3D models, etc.

Since the companion is more fun to play with than the game could we get the companion team to develop game content?

Light and dark skin/theme for the app and website. I hate seeing text outline after reading the TWAB because of the color scheme. And this happens on my phone and laptop. Different brightness settings and blue light filters dont help either. Maybe its just me and my sensitive eyes that this happens to, i dont know. But it would be a nice additional feature nonetheless.

Just add this function in to the game, not in mobile app or forum, put dash board in to the Tower where ppl can create different LFG announcements with variety of options to customise this anouncements, its will be much better that alt-tab all time to check forum.

1 RespuestaThe update to fireteam finder sucks put it back the way it was nobody can figure out how to use it or something because theres no one on it anymore been trying to get a team together for almost an hour now.last week with the old system took about 4 seconds.

1. Why remove the swipe feature for notifications and such? It was handy and used less motions to navigate. 2. On Android - Kit Kat through Nouget - it's been well over a year since I've been able to directly read a reply after tapping the notification bar. It only leads to my post, not the reply. Please correct this issue.

2 RespuestasWhere to begin? As with the game itself, the constant tinkering has devolved b.net and the companion app into a jumbled mess. The tabs in the companion app should be easy to navigate, and pertinent information should be listed first. What is the point of having a latest tab, AND a news tab? They are basically the same thing. The live events tab could be useful, but is so sparse, I don't see the point in having an entire tab for it. Creations tab is fine but should be broken down into different sections for video and artwork. The forum tab, should be the first or second one in the list. We all know that's what people are using the companion app for, so... do it! One of the reasons the other functions of the companion app are not used as much, is there are better, faster, more well organized third-party options available. If they can manage to do things like inventory management, vendor information, loadouts, etc, better than you can with the same API, what is going on? The companion app uses more resources as well, which for a mobile device is always a bad idea. Going back to the forum functionality... Has the muted member issue actually been fixed yet? Are reports actually managed by someone who gives a damn? Why does our notifications tab default to messages? Who actually messages people on this site? Why is the forum moderated so poorly? So many threads have been booted over to feedback, and while some are, the majority of the time (that I've seen) it's just people wanting to have a whinge or a conversation about the game, not necessarily give feedback which should be a more structured format. Why are there constant reports of people selling recovs, etc, but more and more pop up every weekend? Why is it such a sin to call out blatant cheaters on the forums? I understand wanting to protect your users from defamation/slander, but to threaten banning players for simply saying "Hey, so-and-so was cheating, watch out for him!" is a little silly. On the topic of bad members, the report/mute functionality needs some work. The tags for reasons of why we would report/or mute someone are not great. Sometimes, I just pick a reason at random because either multiple things apply, or none of the specific options apply. You ever just find someone on the forum you don't like? Ever get sick of people spamming their bad fanfics, weapon or event ideas? Ever come across a real douchebag? I know I have. We should be able to report players without muting them, and mute them without reporting them. This may have already been implemented, but there's so few people around lately, I haven't been needing to mute/report all that much. Something else that bothers me, whenever I see a thread that has the "Ninja/mentor/bungie replied" tag, I want to see what you guys have said in response to the thread. Often times it's just one of you replying to someone else buried in the comment section. What I'd like to see is, if the bungie team has responded to the OP, pin those posts. If they are buried in the comments on another conversation train, don't add the bungo replied tag! I like that you guys are trying to make it better, but it seems like every tinker either takes a feature we had (grimoire, 3d viewer (yes I know it's back) etc) or breaks the experience as a whole. I like that I theoretically (although only do if my other options are down for maintenance) I can manage my inventory, or see a really bad 3d representation of my guardian. I like the collections tab. I really don't like having to be on the main page of the app, just to access the option to access my notifications, to access something on the forum that's on a completely separate page of the app! I don't honestly care what changes come to the app aside from, be better, faster, and less cumbersome to use. I will adjust to anything, and the things that matter I use different products for anyways so...

Every time im browsing forums 1st choose [i]feedback[/i] next proceed to filter results by [i]recent[/i] i read the one i choose to and when i tap the [i]back arrow[/i] <-- what happens is im taken back to the #help #support #whatever the last post i choose to read section was, don't know if this is somehow working as intended, but to me feels wrong, i don't like it. I come to the forums to keep up with the community's concerns at the moment, i like the older "keep reading feedback til you choose to get back and read support if you feel like to"
