There is more about religion and Christianity on r/atheism on Reddit than there is about atheism.
Pretty pathetic. They aren’t secure enough about their beliefs to just talk about atheism and how it’s good. They need to bring down other beliefs to make themselves feel good.
I guess atheism has nothing transcendental about it.
I’m just venting here because I’m in an extended... “debate” with a neckbeard atheist who keeps shitting all over himself trying to 1-up me. It makes OffTopic and the atheists of OffTopic look like a bunch of old Oxford graduate gentlemen.
I know there are probably plenty of respectable atheists and probably plenty of disrespectful religious folk too. Even before the last recent purge.

18 RespuestasRegardless of what atheist or Christians think... Eternity is a long time, how are you going to spend it? This question can be applied to the Christian, atheist, agnostic, none’s, bhuddist, or any other religion. At the end of the day you have to decide for yourself what it is you believe and you should be able to defend that belief against the views and beliefs of other individuals. Christians, however, are especially bad at this and they crumble under the slightest questioning. But atheist always have a reason for hating God, and that, ladies and gentlemen is the truth about atheist. They know there is a God, but they feel that he has wronged them somehow and by hating him and steering others away from him they feel as though they are getting back at him. However dumb that notion is. In conclusion, whatever you believe,

Eternity is a long time, how are you going to spend it?

I'm atheist, but I find religion fascinating in its own way. I'd love to go to Jerusalem one day. Hell, Mecca too, although I probably wouldnt be allowed near what I want to see, and if I did what I actually wanted to do (take a peek inside the "House of God") I'd probably get executed lol. I'm sure there must be an old Zoroastrian ruin somewhere in the middle east too, but thats just far too risky these days. -blam!-in ISIS... *sigh*

1 Respuestato me its quite simple: i do not have faith that a god exist, but if it helps another person to believe in some kind of god i am absolutely fine with that. (as long as his belief does not harm/exclude other people)

3 RespuestasAtheism is not discussed because their is nothing to discuss. Religion to me just seems ridiculous but if people who believe in a particular religion do so without effecting anyone else and it makes like easier to understand then good for them. The only evidence people can provide of religion when trying to force their opinion is a book, a building and the ever ignorant "because I believe". Well my kids believe in Father Christmas but that doesn't make him so. Leave people alone to believe what ever they want, in 10000 years if the human race is still around their will be new religions and they will look back at today the same as we do about the Greeks of the Egyptians.

To me it’s one in the same. Either blindly believing a deity exists or blindly denying its existence. Regardless of your direction it’s not informed, just embrace the unknown. I can empathize with religion tho in the sense that, if one side has to be right, it’s smarter to be wrong on their side than to be wrong as an atheist if that makes sense.

5 RespuestasEditado por THUNDERCHILD: 3/13/2018 3:06:34 AMAtheism is simple. Its not a "belief" but rather an absence of belief. A true atheist does not commit either way in regard to whether or not a deity exists, but does acknowledge the truth that as of yet no tangible evidence exist that confirms the existance of a deity. Being scientifically minded, should tangible evidence arise we would certainly have good reason to revisit our conclusions. Perhaps an easy way for a Christian to understand the point of view of an average athiest is to think about all the gods we have already set aside. Zeus, Odin, Apollo, ect. A Christian should have no dificulty setting these gods aside and looking at them in a historical context rather than a literal one, we atheists simply go one god further.

1 RespuestaSee their are three kinds of atheists, the first kind are people who just don't believe in religion, it did t affect them and the just don't care, then are pretty chill about it. Then their are the second kind, the ones who were religious and something g bad happened, made them give up on religion, I have nothing good or bad to say about those atheists Then their are the third kind if atheists, the kind that treat atheism as its own religion. They refuse to enter any religious building, and will go out of their way to argue religion with people, and then act superior because their atheists.Approach with extreme caution
no offence to atheists, unless your the third kind, than you will take offence anyway since I insulted your religion

sorry about any spelling, it's to late to be awake
21 RespuestasNo one can prove if a god or gods exist. Neither can they be proven not to exist. Therefore the human race as a whole is hysterical.
-
15 RespuestasAtheism literally can't exist without the concept of religion. I don't see why it's erroneous to bring religion up frequently in an atheist subreddit. Unless you're talking about ad hominem group-bashing, which is something that happens all across the spectrum, from atheism to Christianity, and generally just all over the Internet. Generalizing is one of humanity's most prominent behavioral traits.

19 RespuestasHere's a useful dichotomy: Religious people cannot prove that their God/Gods exist. Athiests cannot prove that God/Gods do not exist.

7 RespuestasHere’s the thing. Atheists don’t have a belief. We believe in nothing. There is no God. There’s hasn’t been any proof of there being any Gods so it’s safe to assume there isn’t.

4 RespuestasEditado por Sam: 3/12/2018 6:51:21 PMFirst off, why use reddit for anything other than vidya game news? It’s a cesspool of idiots. On the topic of atheism, I honestly hate it. (I’d consider myself as one, but I don’t know what I believe for sure, so agnostic maybe). Atheism has very good answers for lots of things, but not enough for most people to consider it reasonable. Religion just seems out of wack to me. Grew up catholic, and god loving. But as I got older, things started to not link up with what I knew about science and all. So off little Sam went to his own bubble of science, and religion, and out came a kid who honestly couldn’t give a flying -blam!- about it anymore. Tldr God may be real, atheism may be right. Don’t hate for what you believe. Reddit is a joke.
also don’t go through my history looking for me replying to people about religion. 90% of the time I joke and bait people
1 Respuesta1. Atheists aren't all the same. 2. They typically dont' bond around their "atheism" with other non-believers. 3. There is a still a stigma ----and discrimination---that have to be faced in many parts of the US if you "come out" publicly as an atheist. Since many people still ignorantly assume that---because you don't believe in a god---that you are therefore an "immoral" and "untrustworthy" person. (Just because you won't behave without the threat of eternal punishment, doesn't mean that everyone else won't.) 4. In my experience both "atheists" (Rational Materialists, in reality) AND "believers" are equally guilty of "moving the goalposts" and other logical fallacies when engaging each other. Simply because they are BOTH trying to defend personal philosophies that NEITHER can actually prove in any objective manner. (I am a professional applied scientist.) Science cannot "disprove" the existence of God, because the question of God isn't even a scientific question. It can disprove the literal truth of Scripture as History. It can prove that you don't have to invoke a God to explain how the Universe works. But you don't disprove the existence of a Gardener by showing that you can have wild forest. On the flipside, I cringe when I watch many believes invoke religious writing in an effort to "prove" the truth of itself...in one long circular argument. The US doesn't have a "culture" problem. It has a BOUNDARIES problem. Too many people who are too invested in trying to CONTROL other people. What they think. What they believe. What they do...when the truth is that its none of your (or my) -blam!-ING BUSINESS.

The last part is pretty true. I don't believe in religions but i do respect people can believe what they want. To each their own as long as they're happy and not hurting anyone else. 😁

2 RespuestasAfter saying I don’t believe in god what else is there to talk about? Atheist don’t talk about that stuff because it’s ridiculous to us.
-
2 RespuestasMost atheists usually don't talk about religion unless it is brought up in a conversation or argument. The picture you have of atheists could be said the same about Christians too. But what is that famous bible saying? "Love thy neighbor?" "Do to others as you would have them do to you?" "Turn the other cheek?" You know, so many Christians seem to ignore these daily rules that should be followed by everyone, whether they came from the bible or not.

In an atheist’s mind religion lives rent free and they won’t shut up about it.

20 RespuestasAtheism = something came from nothing in a natural way. Theism = something came from nothing in a supernatural way. Only one of these uses sound reasoning.

1 RespuestaThere are definitely plenty of disrespectful atheists out there, but one thing you have to note is that atheism is literally the lack of belief in something. They have nothing to talk about BUT religions. Whereas religious groups have their own religion to talk about.
