They curb stomp your ass, guns or not. They have fighter jets, drones, tanks and nukes. You think your guns are going to stop that? Also serious question, why is that the America is pretty much the only developed country whose citizens worry about their government suddenly turning into an evil dictatorship? Seriously I never hear any Germans or English or any of the developed countries worry about that.

Also, we basically have an elected bipartisan oligarchy for all intents and purposes. Also, we are a Republic, not a democracy. Also, a pure democracy would be catastrophic. I don’t abide by your self-restrictions. If you want to be closed-minded, that’s your prerogative. People can be trained. Our current society seeks to discourage combat proficiency. Unfortunate. We could be like Israel where most are required to serve. I wonder how many school shootings they endure from their own citizens...
