Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from my detective office, where I’m trying to convince Seargant Fiz here to give The Kid a second chance, after he betrayed us yesterday.
Fiz: “And I hear what you’re sayin’, Aifos, but how can we just pardon everything he’s done?”
How else? With style!
Fiz: “Well I guess what you’re sayin’..
Is to soften my stance.
Go with my gut, and give The Kid one more chance!”
You’re not an old gumshoe,
Stuck in the same dance!
You’ve learned a new step-
Fiz: “-I’ll give The Kid one more chance!”
You’ll give The Kid one m-
Papika: “Aifos.. The Kid just ran off with the power stone.”
What? He betrayed us again? But.. But we just did the musical number, and.. Fiz, we’re takin’ him down!
Oh, but we got a post here first, don’t we?
*ahem* By far, the most common type of plot twist is betrayal! The supporting good guy turns out to be a bad guy, and everyonr gasps in horror as he does something evil!
Then the hero, being heroic, does the only sensible thing, blows up a mechanical planet, and cleaves the traitor in half, leaving all the seven year old playing the game with horrid nightmares of him screaming as he falls apart!
Okay.. That’s a very specific answer, but the moral of the story is; don’t betray the good guys!
When done well, the betrayals can affect you deeply, making you angry, or saddened, at your friend turning to the dark side. When done badly, it’s just kinda.. Meh. But let’s ignore the “meh” ones for now, and talk about our favorite betrayals from our favorite games!
Or.. Your favorite betrayals from your least favorite games. You know, whatever. I don’t judge.
Tl;dr? Here’s my point!
What are your favorit-
*Betrayal*
Papika: “Whoops.. Aifos? Are you okay?”
My answer:
Spoilers to Kirby Super Star, and Kirby’s Return to Dreamland
I want to say Marx, from Kirby Super Star.. But, honestly, while I do like Marx, his spiritual successor Magolor did the whole “betrayal” part better, since he appeared throughout the game instead of a single cutscene.
“Well done, Kirby. You’ve truly earned your reputation as a hero.” -Magolor
If there was a Most Duplicitous D-Bag of the Universe Award, it would probably go to Albert Wesker. I mean, first he masquerades as a heroic police captain during the Arklay Mansion incident. He abandons the team 2 minutes after 70 % of them get mauled by zombified dogs to fend for themselves. All the while, he works toward his true agenda of keeping the Umbrella Corporation's virus-making activities secret, ending with him releasing a Tyrant on Chris/Jill. Then, he plays the puppet master behind the scenes for Resident Evil 2-4, making life an utter hell for the protagonists. Finally, he decides to get more personally involved in Resi 5 during which he strikes Africa with a viral outbreak. He then turns the woman who loves and supports him into a mutant plant because...she irked him? Oh, and he needed a diversion to distract Chris and Sheva....still a dick move. He certainly got his comeuppance by getting two missiles to the face while drowning in a convenient lake of lava inside of an active volcano (long story). Still, I can't help but admire the man for his fashion sense if nothing else. Damned if he didn't rock those shades and long leather coat.

Either Patches from Dark Souls, or Wheatley from Portal 2. Patches was particularly interesting in DS3’s Ringed City DLC.
For those who haven’t played it, through the DLC you meet a knight named Lap who has amnesia. As you progress, you get subtle hints about who he is/was and then towards the end he remembers that he was Patches and throws you off a ledge.
1 RespuestaI want to say Logain from Dragon Age Origins. His betrayal of the king and the Grey Wardens comes from a good place, and he is truly a patriot of Ferelden- a vastly complex character that, while a major villain of the game, remains sympathetic. Granted his betrayal is in the beginning, so that isn't any fun. So I will go with Dragon Age Inquisition's Solas (my this series loves them some moral ambiguity)
Solas adventures with you, saves your life, helps you defeat Corypheous and close the breach in the sky. He broadens your horizon of the fade. He truly cares about the exploits of the Inquisition and the people of Thedas. And he's an ancient eleven God of Betrayal who plans to combine the physical world and the Fade, and action that would kill everyone in the world except the elves who would reclaim the world. This is because he ripped the two apart in the first place ages ago, and the effect ruined his race brought them to servitude and displacement. Yet he still loves the people he has encountered. In his final conversation with him and you ask why he saved so many lives just to kill them his response is poignant "I'm not a monster. If they have to die, I don't want them to die in pain or misery"- I am paraphrasing the quote. He concedes that he did not expect you to succeed. And when you tell him you will change his mind and show him a better way where everyone doesn't have to die, he admits he sees no other way but was wrong about you and your abilities before and sincerely hopes he is wrong again.
