I’m all for the grind and perfect roll for your build but honestly, I think if they put in a beefy mod system it’d work out just the same.
Mods that do more then add five power. Buff a stat, give a perk, you know make you pick and choose what to buff and what not to. Gives more variety while letting you tailor each weapon (even the duplicates) for what you want it to be for.
I could see the Masterwork system being used to expand gear slots too. Baseline gear has one and exotics have two and making it Masterwork adds another slot.
Bam, you just trailered 1-3 traits on your gear. Sounds like a pretty good system doesn’t it?
Balance? Pfffft. Make the mods tiered and have the uppermost have negatives to offset the high positives.
It’d also be a heck of a lot easier to work up and implement. Tons of flexibility for players and the devs to monitor performance and tweak things.
Random rolls, maybe for D3, but it’d take too much time and effort to put random rolls back in and there are still lots of other fixes left to make.
Let’s keep ourselves reasonable and use some common sense. We don’t need a carbon copy all or nothing approach to correcting the game.
