Waaah give us something to grind for. Waaah I hate searching for ghost shells. Waaah I miss ghost shells. Waaah grenades are too powerful. Waaah grenades aren't powerful enough. Too many whinging people all whinging about different opposite things. Bungie literally can't win. They say they're going to fix the things people have been moaning about, people find other things to moan about. Worst forum community of all time.

          • ANNOUNCEMENT: please listen, all these people asking for random rolls...KNOW this; they will NEVER give you that “god” roll back. They’ve learned too much. If they ever went back to that system, I can guarantee you they wouldn’t allow those rolls to even be possible. Notice how they didn’t include “range” as a Masterwork upgrade for handcannons? That’s how random rolls will be. So you will end up grinding “rNdom rolls” for the same level guns we have now...I’ll pas. There are TONS of better ways to fix this system. Random rolls is a lazy fix.

            • I like it the way it is, just add more mod slots to weapons along with new and old mods made from perks in D1.

No thanks. Keep the static rolls but give me a robust mods system that incorporates all of the old D1 style weapon perks AND new D2 specific weapon perks. Let the weapon foundries play a bigger role in the game, even granting them foundry specific mods. Rip off a page from other RPGs where higher quality gear get more mod slots. Make raid only mods that fit only in raid gear; trials only mods that fit only in trials gear. Gear will still be usable for everything else but would have that extra slot specific to the original activity to make them that much more desirable. Essentially the same concept as random rolls only with much less randomness and more player control. Giving us more agency over our characters and our playstyles since, you know, they ripped away our old talent trees.

no. for gods sake. no. don’t ask for random rolls and “something to grind for” when you lazy bums want to complain about grinding for every faction rally and eververse event that starts.

                    • No, we need a better mod system. Random rolls did nothing but force EVERYONE to chase the same thing. This led to nerfs and removal of perks. Guess no one remebers ANY OF THIS?

                    • Well I would have agreed once, but now I'l veering towards mods. (Don't hit me!) With only a couple of perks available, random rolls looks OK. But remember, with random rolls all the freakin perks are random. So, you start with - say - 3 perks. Roll 1 - good, good, bad. Roll 2 - good, bad, good. Roll 3 - good, bad, bad. etc. etc. Roll 229 - good, good, good. It's worse with more than 3 perks. In D1, if someone got the rare "God Roll", that consumption of Good Luck forced them to stay in the house for a while, in case they were struck by lightning on a clear day. Get the picture? With mods, you get to pick the perks. The problem is, of course, getting the damn mods in the first place, and, in my experience, that's just not possible. I've deleted a jillion! In a rare flash of intelligence, Bungie has hinted - hinted - they just might do something about mods. Like toss a few into the garbage, ensure a more even distribution in drops, and a couple of other hints too vague to take any real notice of. I'm sorta inclined to wait and see if the mod system is improved from garbage to maybe reasonable.

                        • I'm with a lot of the people here on NOT wanting that crap back! I'll explain why. 1. Despite what you are now seeing from those youtubers who are reminiscing about grinding for a luna or whatever. If you look back at their video history for D1 you will 100% see the same youtubers complaining about the amount of grinding they are having to do to get the "God Roll" Luna and telling bungie to sort it! 2. No-one really LIKED the grinding. Not me, not anyone I know or raided with and not anyone who even vaguely remembers what it was like. So why the sudden call for it to come back? Fek knows but, it's a very real case of be careful what you wish for! 3. A hell of a lot of people LEFT D1 due to the grind for armour and weapons from VoG, Strikes and other raids! So clearly the majority of players did NOT like the system. The solution is not to simply add in random crap rolls for weapons and have everyone grinding for that elusive "God Rolled gun". Those that get it (as you can see if you trawl though D1 forum posts) will actively try to get Bungie to limit or somehow stop anyone else grinding for those same rolls because then they have an advantage in PvP and PvE. It was pretty ridiculous and was a large part of the reason Bungie ended up in the disastrous Buff/Nerf cycle they were stuck with. God roll players were dominating the majority who didn't have god rolled weapons or the time to grind for them. Leading to frustration and mass exodus. If a new system of grinding is what people want then it needs to be a system that works for everyone regardless of how much or how little time they have to invest. I would suggest something like the system below:- Have mod slots appear within the gun perk tree. These can then be filled with a mod of the appropriate type. The types for mods will be as follows 1. Stock mods i.e. light weight, heavy etc. etc. 2. Barrel mods i.e vented, steady etc. etc. 3. Ammo type mods i.e explosive rounds, armour piercing, high caliber, firefly etc. etc. 4. Element or kinetic mod. 5. Ammo cartridge mod i.e. quick change, extended mag etc. etc. These will be the mods that you grind for with weapons and a similar list will exist for armour. From these mods you can create a gun of your choice. Certain guns and manufacturers will accept different mods. What this means is that some guns will not have a stock mod slot, some will not have a barrel mod slot etc. etc. I would suggest (for balancing) that a gun have no more than 3 user defined mod slots. So you can't set everything on a gun and have a god roll. You need to decide if your play style suits heavy caliber, armour piercing, firefly etc. etc. but, not have all three active in one gun! You would get these mods from breaking down duplicate weapons. It's that simple. No crappy eververse drops (mods should 100% not be in that drop pool period!) just normal gameplay and weapon drops allowing you to get an rng mod from dismantling your duplicate guns. The gunsmith will continue to sell set mods on a weekly rotation (not daily as this would make it stupidly easy to get all mods within a few days even with rng). Certain mods would naturally be rarer than others with Kinetic and Element mods being the most common drops. Which brings me to slots and loadouts. For this to work as I intend there would need to be at minimum a dual loadout system in play and a return to the D1 slot mechanic. This would allow you (the player) to carry two distinct loadouts. When not in combat you can change to any one at will. So in raids and strikes and nightfalls you would be able to change during areas that don't have the darkness revive limiter. You can then spec one loadout to give you an elemental primary, secondary and heavy and one slot to give you a kinetic primary with better impact and crit. but, no burn. A different secondary to support the burn removal and a different heavy to support that! Lastly I would introduce a simple rock/paper/scissors system for enemies vs elements, which I am genuinely not sure why that isn't already in the game. It would be as simple as this:- Void --> Fallen --> Arc --> Cabal --> Solar --> Vex --> Void So a complete circle would equate to Fallen are weak against void but, do extra damage with and resist Arc. Cabal are weak against Arc but, do extra damage with and resist Solar. Vex are weak against Solar but do extra damage with and resist Void. This simple change immediately introduces the burn system as both an integral part of the game universe and also a strategy system that players can use to constantly vary their load-outs with actual relevance to which enemy they are going to be facing! Wow I waffled so..peace and I'm out!
