If every day one of the team (not even the same guy every day) just hopped on and said anything it would go a long way. It doesn't have to be a huge statement. Get your community involved in meaningfull or whimsical communication. Just anything to keep us feeling connected and informed.
Ex: "Morning everyone! About to do my rounds before the morning meeting. I saw a bunch of #bring back random rolls posts, i'll let the guys know about them in the meeting later."
Cheers!
Next day: Hello, just saw a bunch of feedback about me passing on the random rolls request from yesterday. It's a bit early to hear back from anyone upstairs. (thats quite a major decision) I'll keep you posted about anything i hear back.
Untill next time, keep defending the light guardians!
Random day: Just saw some playtesting of the new crucible mode called... (you really thought i was going to spoil it?) anyway, looks fantastic! No solid launch date yet, but i think you are going to like it!
See you tomorow!
Another random day: Hey guys! Nothing substantial to report today just droping in to see what's up. Let me know what you are thinking below.
peace!
This is my idea of what community managers should look like, especially after the kind of issues and problems we have had with this game.
Thoughts?
Edit:
I will agree that their message is often lost in the "assult" after their posts, but i believe that is due to poor communication from the very start.
The intended goal of my post above is for Bungie's community managers to initiate a dialogue with the community and allow for a more open and "human" interaction (which will take time given the state of the playerbase) But i believe it would, over time, trend toward a calmer and more constructive atmosphere.
Edit 2:
"They JUST had a TWAB a couple of days ago sheesh!
I would not include the TWAB in the example of bad community management. TWAB is more about updates and progress of the game and it's functions than general player communication.
Again, the point I am focusing on with this post is "community management" and how i feel they could improve it to help placate (at least the majority) of players. And allow for more "adult" communication.
It's the internet, there are always trolls and people who aren't happy, that said I think we could all agree that this forum has a particular issue in that reguard. One that if not completely fixed, could at least be mitigated with more interaction from our community managers.
Edit 3:
I agree 100% with registered users only, and higher quality over quantity in reguards to game info and update timelimes. However, again I am strictly refering to "Community management" not game updates.
As I see it a "Community manager" has a few main objectives:
#1 Know and be known by your players. Interact with them on all social platforms (even in game when time allows) It builds a connection and places a face on the machine that is your company. )
#2 Be the bridge between your game and it's players. Use the relationship you have formed (asuming you are good at your job) to pass the vital feedback to and from players and its developers.
#3 Moderate incoming feedback. Use your influence and understanding of the community as a whole to better judge the quality of feedback to mitigate the issues brought about by trolls and "bad apples" amongst the community and it's social media connections.

34 RespuestasHey all, In terms of communication, I'll be your guy on the Bungie.net forums moving forward. Absolutely looking to increase the cadence of communication. If we're investigating solutions to problems, we'll let you know that things are in process. If we're able to speak to what's being tested, we'll be looking to share that information with you via replies to feedback posts that inspired the upcoming changes. As spoken to through the most recent Destiny 2 Development Update, we'll also be looking to let you know if upcoming changes will be delayed due to issues, or otherwise. Definitely keep the feedback coming - what else would you like to see more of from us on the community team? As an example, I've personally seen many requests for official Bungie statements to be reciprocated to the forums. If I comment on a development process via Twitter, the information should also be found on a Bungie.net forum post for additional conversation. There are many other ways that we're looking to improve, but never hesitate to throw feedback our way. Cheers, -dmg
I will agree that their message is often lost in the "assult" after their posts, but i believe that is due to poor communication from the very start.
No, its because the internet is populated primarily by negative people. I like to visit the forum of any video game I play, and often end up taking part in those forums. No matter which game forum I am on I see the same thing. Non-stop complaints. Any time a thread is started by a community manager, its filled with replies along the lines of "Why hasn't X issue been fixed yet? Its been months!! You don't care about your customers. I will no longer support this developer". It doesn't matter how good the game is, people will find something to complain about and will make that the primary topic of discussion. Assassin's Creed: Origins is a great game, a real return to form for the series. But on their forum the most recent update from the community manager about today's patch is filled with "Why no SLI support yet? Why doesn't spatial sound work? Why doesn't my season pass include every single MTX item available?" People were threatening to quit the game over this stuff. I remember being shocked at all the negative threads on The Witcher's forum considering how universally lauded that game was. It doesn't matter how good the game is or how well the community managers interact with the forum. People come to a forum to bitch, its that simple.

1 RespuestaI don't agree with the whole getting lost in the posts that are assaults. It literally up with a BLUE STRIP OUTSIDE THE POST THAT BUNGIE RESPONDED. THAT IS NOT HARD TO FIND WHEN SCROLLING.
-
Sorry the employees over at bungie are too busy swimming in their money bins. Better luck next year.
-
It’ll come right around the same time as the next eververse event or dlc
-
3 RespuestasAye, just what the Internet needs, more pointless white noise. You want regular small amounts of accurate game information? Follow Chris Barrett and the other dev team twitters. If more forum users did that, this would be a better and more usable place.
-
1 Respuestaits at eververse.

The Corporate Culture at Bungie does not entail open dialogue or frequent communication with the player base. It never has. What Bungie is saying now is simply lip service in order to do damage control for a game that did not meet the expectations of the community. Until such time as Bungie undergoes a change in Sr Management I don’t see this changing.

7 RespuestasI don’t need a nanny. I’d rather have them doing their jobs in making the game better.
-
1 RespuestaHow about bungie doesn’t owe YOU anything.
-
7 RespuestasSooo rather than wait for a weekly update which they do, you want daily updates about nothing just for the sake of communication, you don’t need constant dialogue to make it worthwhile, every TWAB they have a section saying these are the forum talking points, the only time they don’t is when a blog comes out. 24 hours isn’t enough time passed to have any meaningful dialogue.
-
1 RespuestaBy better communication they probably mean a few extra lines in the typically pointless weekly blog post.
-
2 RespuestasI agree that the communication is very scarce, once a week with a half assed blog post isn’t enough, but every day is a bit excessive, maybe 3 days a week, every other day. But I also think that trying to figure out what to prioritize at the moment is pretty hard. And trying to balance everything for everyone to enjoy is probably hard. And in general the process is harder than we think.
-
1 RespuestaYou got your communication right here........the bungie forum heavyweight champion is at your service. ......now how can I help you with your hurt feelings?
-
1 RespuestaChecking Twitter, you are not.
-
2 Respuestasfor 4 years this has been the pattern and i cant see bungo doing anything different. Nothing for weeks except the twab about listening and future stuff usually IB/Factions/repeat event news. Then a tweet about something that never shows up in the game - like the dead ghots...grimoire etc.. Then 2 posts - 1 on reddit - 1 on the bungo forums - again about listening and rarely a direct response to some crackpot statement someone made. Until the next dlc is going to drop - then you start getting reveals and more tweets and more posts. I cant see them breaking this habit of poor communication, because that is their style format - poor. Even the twab was very guarded about up coming changes - and their timeframes.
-
5 RespuestasThey literally had a big blog post 5 days ago. People like you are why the forums suck.
-
1 Respuesta“Hey everyone. Grabbing coffee and headed to a meeting.” Nah, we good. All they need to do is provide better info in the TWAB.
-
Check Christopher Barrets twitter. He talks about issues every couple of days to a week. Same with dmg04
-
1 RespuestaAre you lonely , do you need a friend ? Here some one to talk to, Bungo doesn't want to be your friend :( https://www.samaritans.org/

If rather see meaningful posts from Bungie members. Plus, no matter how many posts they(d) do, this community just shits on them. I wouldn’t want to post stuff just for hundreds of whiny good for nothing shitheads to complain “how bad the game is”... and I sure don’t like readin it either. Phuq all crybaby haters.
