• Alright, now we know where all the employed people stand, since you’re their official spokesman.

  • In D1, I ran close to 100 Tiger Strikes for a Hopscotch Pilgrim to drop. A couple here and there after work or, yes, a long weekend slog. That is a LONG (and yes, tedious) grind. However, when it DID drop, I rolled the perks to perfectly suit my playstyle and that gun NEVER left my Warlock's side again. It's still at her side now every time I boot up D1 (which is more and more often these days). I, personally, have zero attachment to anything like that in D2 and frankly never will. I earned The Hopscotch Pilgrim, I grew that gun, and I loved using that gun. If you're telling me that static perks on loot can give you that same feeling, I'd love to hear your opinion on it.

It was a damned rare moment when I didn't have Ice Breaker on one of my characters. I don't like the static rolls much. Just no grind for that "god roll" gun. With that said, I am close to deleting a shit load of Kinetic and Energy weapons because the only two I ever use are Nameless Midnight and Valakadyn. That nameless is damn near as fun as IB (for me) and I've ALWAYS been a sniper guy in any game that has them. The perks simply happen to be a perfect fit for me. I am in no way trying to defend static rolls. While I like the Hell out of both of those guns, I really would like to see different perks. For nothing else but to give other players an opportunity to get their perfect gun. I would grind for a Nameless exactly like this if we were given different rolls. It would probably be much more special when I got one to drop.

  • Yeah, I thoroughly agree with you. I don't know why I carry around half the load out I do. I only use the same guns all the time, and when I switch things around to "give some other guns some play time" I invariably switch right back (I'm with you 100% on Valakadyn. I'm more of a Pulse Rifle guy and the Eyestein is the closest I can get to the hard hitters of old). I truly do not like static rolls. I miss the fun of getting a drop and cracking it open to see what the perk set is. That being said... meh... I've just gotten used to the way things are now. If you gave me the choice, though, I'd take random rolls in a heartbeart. Seeking and grinding for that perfect gun just gives me ownership over that gun. Well, that's how I see it anyway. Hunt on, Guardian. Have a fantastic day wherever you are in this great wide world.

  • I've been stuck for a while with having two characters fully stuffed with gear. The one I'm running with at the moment? I try and keep two slots open on each gear slot. 199 pieces in the vault with no extra shaders, ghosts, Sparrows or mods stored. Zero duplicates (aside from Elemental damage). Makes it entertaining to change up characters through DIM. :) Kadi was going to start charging me storage fees on each character soon! I begged her to let me keep some extra stuff there a bit longer. :) Last night, I got the vault down to 160 pieces, emptied out the Postmaster (Kadi was grumpy the whole time I was picking up boxes of stuff) and a few open spots on each gear slot, on each character. Some were simple to let go. Some, a little tougher to hold that button down for the disassembly. When I loaded up the Arc and Solar Eyesteins, damn. I actually stopped halfway through the 'break down' button hold several times. Both went back into the vault, right next to the Void Eyestein. I simply couldn't do it. I don't use Pulses that often, but the Eyestein is just a nice gun when the Pulse desire is there. It may or may not be the best Pulse in the game, but it's a real good fit for my style. Have fun and remember, it is just a video game. :)

Personally, as someone who is employed, I'd like to see random rolls return, to an extent. I can see random rolls returning via the masterwork system. So say when you get a masterwork, maybe you can re-roll the last perk on the weapon, and it will also add a new, random perk. Example, instead of having Tap the Trigger as the last perk on Uriel's Gift, it could be re-rolled go have Kill Clip, and then have an extra, random perk as well, such as Ambitious Assassin. I feel this would (maybe) satisfy the folks who want random rolls to return, and would allow Bungie to further expand upon the masterwork system.

  • God, if all I had to look forward to in a game was grinding every few hours a week I get to play just for one fvcking roll on a gun... I barely get enough time to play on 2 characters long enough to pick up 1 bright engram each.

  • People used to grind for gjallarhorn and it only had one roll.

  • We're talking grinding for 1 weapon with many rolls though. With Gjally you got it once and you were done. That's a little different. It's worse if you're trying to get specific rolls on multiple weapon. Multiple weapons, some duplicates, across 3 characters.

  • Then you shouldn't play a game that was made for that. So...

  • I played Destiny 1 for 3 years, before having a wife and a bunch more responsibilities, hence why I'm fine without random rolls.

  • I understand that and nice to hear that. Congrats 😀 But bungie could at least try to help both parties. Like I said in an different thread, instead of having only 2 paths for supers they could make paths you could choose but open them so you can mix them up. Pleased both types of players... Example: Path for this: 4 blocks Path for this: 4 blocks Choose 1 of then or 2 blocks from each and which you want They could also make them bigger with new perks and features.

  • Abilities is a whole other thing. I wouldn’t mind having a 1-2 more paths to choose, but part of the problem with what we originally had with picking anything was picking things that didn’t work with each other at all. Like it wouldn’t make sense to have the option to pick scatter grenades and then choose a path/individual perk that only supports tripmines, right? I’m honestly fine with the abilities as they are, but one more Path to choose would be cool.
