This is just something I would like to share.
I got Destiny 1 right before the dark below came out. I had always been a casual gamer. I never considered myself hardcore by any means. ....until I got Destiny!
I had never been able to get into any MMOS at all.... until Destiny!
I loved Destiny 1 so much, it got me into gaming more and more!
Yes, I thought the story was lacking, sometimes I didn’t know what to do, or why I was doing things, but it was FUN. I made so many friends who I still play with today. However, some of my other friends didn’t like Destiny because there wasn’t any Story, or shoddy characters (NPC), etc. BUT THEN....
The Taken King came out!! Bungie NAILED THE FORMULA ON THE HEAD! I had gotten so many people back into Destiny. I even pulled people into Destiny who never played it because they heard it was lame... and they loved it!
So fast forwarded to mid 2017, Destiny 2 was coming out. We thought Bungie had found the winning formula and they wanted to start fresh with this winning formula.... NOPE! They fooled everyone and they reworked nearly EVERYTHING! Even the things we loved about the game... WHY?!
***
YOU HAD THE WINNING FORMULA!!! WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU CHANGE IT?!

It’s like Bungie took one step forward and 3 steps back. Now people who spent the last 3 years playing the exact same game, Destiny 1, now want to stop playing Destiny 2 after only 3 months?!? Because they are bored...
There is barely a challenge. Games need to challenge you!! The feeling when you FINALLY beat that boss with your friends, nothing can compare to it! And Destiny 1 had it by the bucket fulls!! You all worked so hard on that boss! You all feel so great that you finally beat it. And then you check your loot drops right there. You tell your friends what you got, find out what what they got, and see if you got the gun you wanted. No? “Well I guess we gotta do it again guys!!!” It was great!
Games like Dark Souls are so popular because they are challenging. Push over games never last long...
People want a challenge. They want a sense of accomplishment. people want LOOT. And they want it when they accomplish something. Not stupid tokens to go give to someone an hour later or split your fireteam up.
REWARD = REPLAY
Give people the rewards, the sense of accomplishment and the loot, the moment they accomplish something. That reward triggers happiness in the brain, which in turn is associated to the event, raid, or strike they just played. And then they will want to keep coming back.
BUNGIE IF YOU DONT FIX THIS GAME SOON, YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE MANY MANY MORE EXISTING FANS THAN THE MONTH LONG CASUALS YOUR PULLING IN.
Because casual players won’t last long, and into hardcore fans like I did, if you don’t give them reasons to stay.
End rant
