Stop!.... Buying!.... Them! It's not rocket science. If you hate microtransactions, ...Stop!... BUYING!...Them! If nobody buys 'em, they go bye-bye. That's the only way. There's nothing we can say, there's nothing we can do except STOP!... BUYING!... Them! Your hashtag shouldn't be no more microtransactions, it should be STOP! BUYING! Microtransactions! As long as they make money they'll be in the game so STOP!... BUYING!.. THEM! Make sense? Destiny 1 came out with NO microtransactions(which is one of the reasons I got into it and not Warframe). Then they sold emotes. And people BOUGHT them. So then the came out with the masks, and people BOUGHT them. Member that? One cool blue flaming skull mask and fifteen sh#tty paper masks. So keep throwing money at the screen til you get the cool one. Why sell the cool one for $5 when you can get people to gamble and buy box after box and spend $50 or $60? One chance to win, 15 chances to lose. And people BOUGHT those. On day one you'd go to the tower and see ten or twelve friggin' morons dancing and waving and running around like the simple basterds they are. And you KNOW they didn't all get the cool blue skull in the first, second, or third box. Then came more boxes and more boxes, with boosters, and people BOUGHT 'em, and BOUGHT 'em, and BOUGHT 'em. Now with Destiny 2 Tess is main stage, unavoidable, fully intergrated sublimimal in game advertiving, and people BUY them. Yeah, it's great if we could start a movement, get people to come together, hell, get a petition and get every gamer on earth to sign it. But here's the thing if people keep buying them they're not going anywhere, and it doesn't matter how much we complain. Imagine this. You're Bungie/Activision. In one hand you hold a report showing you the millions of dollars you're making with microtransactions, in the other a petition signed by every gamer on earth with a rational argument on why players think microtransactions should be removed from games. Which one do you wipe your a$$ with? Which one you think Bungie wipes its a$$ with? STOP! BUYING! THEM!

  • Yeah the worst part about the destiny microtransactions is it's like gambling you never know what you're going to get for your money...

  • If you think that, then you don't know much about gambling. 1) Gambling is the exchange of money for the chance to win something of value. Nothing in engrams (bright, legendary, luminous, or otherwise) has any value. They can't be traded. They can't be sold. 2) Most of the time with gambling, you know exactly what you are getting if you win. If you sit at a table game, you know exactly what the payout is based on the odds of the hand. With lottery style games, you know the base value that you could earn based on the pot at the time you bought. Slot machines are closer to what you are looking for, but the payouts and odds are listed right on the machine,, so you still have a good idea of the outcome (both likely and possible). 3) Gambling always has the risk of a loss. Engrams always give you something (even if it is not the item you hoped for).

  • LOL. Sorry if someone has more money than you to spend on a game. Why should they suffer? Every other game company does and its -blam!-ing cosmetic.....it doesn't even impact game play and you all whine like little bitches.

  • How is a mod that increases my resilence yet does nothing to change my appearance cosmetic? How does that not impact game play? You might say "So what, it's just mods?" and mods aren't that big a deal but it shows Bungie is moving away from cosmetic only. I'm not bitching because someone has cool ghost or cool shaders and I don't. I'm upset and want people to stop buying microtransactions because I can see where this leads. Today it's just mods, but trust me, one day progression will be tied to microtransactions. That's what they want and they're hiring people to figure out how to do that right now. Check it out for yourself, youtube it. Look at EAs Star wars. That's where we're headed.

  • "stop buying" is a bullshit excuse , stoppin buying doesn't prevent games to be designed around microtransactions ultimately making those games shit microtransactions especially lootboxes need to be hated and shunned upon by the consumer to the point develpoers will be afraid and ashamed to put em in games , we are on a good way now

Yeah, I'm with you on that. Hate 'em, shun 'em, shame 'em, all that, but until people stop buying them they aren't going anywhere. Look at EA Starwars. Do you really think they took the loot boxes out because they saw how much gamers disliked them? Or did they take them out because people refused to buy the game? Do you think they would have took them out if the game sales were good? Money talks, B.S. walks. Saying 'I hate this, but here's my money' isn't going to change their minds. No business is going to say 'OK, this makes us millions of dollars, but let's just throw all that money away to make gamers happy'. If they no longer make money, then they'll stop putting them in games.

  • yea , of course , by disliking the corporate practices one should not get lured in into buying the game regardless of the temptation , our money is fueling their evil tactics

  • True enough, the problem is that players like us don't touch microtransactions but clearly a significant portion of the community does buy them since they have only gotten worse over the years, unfortunately players like us are the minority which means we will never make a big enough dent in the sales to get rid of them.

  • Okay you need to realize that he probably doesn't buy them. In fact most people don't buy them cause most people aren't stupid. I don't buy them. I'm sure you don't but there's always that 5% or 1% that does and make the company a lot of money. It's not exactly the consumers fault for micro transactions to still be a thing. Do you think that a person that cares about their body eats at Mc Donalds? Hell no, and the ones that do, damn them anyways they can die slowly all they want. The point isnt to stop buying Micros it's to make it accessible through playing the game. If I could work towards getting a specific gear instead of gambling to maybe get something cool, that would be the best way to handle lootboxes in games.
