Further to this^ I just got ddos'ed twice in a row I quickplay!! Not even kidding! Started game and nuked two members of a stacked team trying to grab a while their othet guys ran for b. I then kill a third and get kicked. Bungies reunion kicks in and i get dropped back in but now we are 9 to 7 down. My score is reset but no biggie. So i regrab a and c and manage to get a super of to nuke 2 trying to flank. So we are now 15 to 11 up. What do you know i get kicked again. Ok this is being silly. Bungie drop me back to the same match lol 3 minutes remaining and now 27 to 19 down. I grab b and a and force a powerplay! Score jumps up to 27 vs 27 then 30 vs 29 in our favour then i hold a against 3 of them. Kill 2 and die but my team mate finished off no. 3 and what do you know! Kicked to title screen with a full loss of internet!! Edit: To clarify, the third kick that knocked me off the internet was my ISP protection system kicking in as it detected the packet spamming and started moving me to a new ip. address. This re-boots you. So it wasn't the packet spam that kicked me off the net it was the automatic ISP ddos protection system that they have in place.

  • It is how single system ddos works. Do some research dude/dudette. The myth is that your Trials ddoss-er is somehow running a zombie network. He/she isn't they are packet blasting you from a songle system. All that happens is that if you have a good router, like mine, you effectively start refusing the packets and knock yourself off the host. This causes you to disconnect from DESTINY not from the internet. In a real ddos attack where your system is getting spammed by a zombie network (and I've had to fight off a few of those at work) you get spammed from multiple connections all at the same time and you effectively get locked out of the net. I believe this is why a lot of people on here are saying that people are not getting ddos-ed because they were not blasted off the internet by 500 zombie pcs.

  • No it doesn't! that's some ridiculous myth as all it does is spam you with packets of data that your router (unless you've got some sad 1999 kit) will try to filter out. It stops you send in packets as fast as you usually can but, unless you're getting spammed by multiple machines, then you're not going to be blasted off the internet. Your internet will just run like treacle. I have a router that will attempt to isolate the source and refuse it's connections. In destiny, if that source is the host, then you effectively boot yourself off the network! It's pretty laughable that a lot of people think that ddos means you immediately end up with no internet connection. Even your ISP will start packet rejecting on your behalf if you get spammed. It takes a massive zombie network to blast you of the internet because your ISP will usually drop the connection to the spamming system after a few minutes.
