I agree with everything OP said and I'll add one more reason why Bungie screwed up.
Fixed stats on armor n weapons.
I'll just stick to the simpler of the two. Armor. If we discuss stats on weapons we'll be here for hours. But ok, armor.
So you're chasing a particular piece of armor whether it be helmet, arms, chest piece, legs or class item from whichever activity (iron banner, ikora gear, crucible gear etc.) You get the helmet u been chasing, yet it has no recovery on it or it has no resilience or it has no mobility. If you end up getting that same helmet to drop again, it drops with the same stats cuz it's a fixed stat. I mean, proof of laziness is right there in plain sight.
So they changed it from intellect, discipline and strength to mobility, resilience and recovery but at least in D1 u could grind for the best stats on armor.
But in D2, u HAVE to wear SPECIFIC gear (doesn't matter if u like how they look on your character) to reach a particular setup you're looking for. It's just insane dude.
They basically designed some ugly clothing and mixed in some decent looking ones, drew fixed stats on all of them, wrote some coding on when and how they drop and said, ok guys, go play.
Angry Birds 2 and Candy Crush look like they put more effort into making their game compared to Bungie honestly.
It's a shame...

Or you can use Armor Mods to bump those stats. :) Now instead of grinding for the right stats on armor, you can get the armor itself easier and just have to grind for the right mods. (And yes, I know it means potentially sacrificing grenade/melee/class ability cooldown mods, but D1 made you do that too with Intellect/Strength/Discipline.)
-
And by grind you mean walk over to the gunsmith and spend some glimmer

The simple answer to your response is no. You brought up the fact that you lose out on grenade ability, super ability and melee ability by using the mod but didn't follow it with a valid point. In D1 you grinded for an intellect discipline build, or a discipline strength or tier 12 build, but your mobility and recovery were under your own control when u went to your class ability screen. Then the weapons came with perks also so there was no need to have a mod that reduces coil for that matter. But unlike other posters, i don't really have time for this back and forth convo we're having so I'll leave you with this. Seems like you like the way things are setup in D2 so I'm happy for you. So enjoy.

You're right, and that's a fair point, but both systems are still present. In my experience, you can get an armor "set" that has two strong attributes (as a complete set), and maybe one weak attribute, or one strong and two mediocre attributes. (You're not starting from 0, you're starting with SOME stats already present.) Add one grenade, one melee, and one class ability mod, and use the other two slots to boost the stat or two that are lacking in the armor's default stats (or double up on one ability mod if you prefer 'nades or whatnot). And again, instead of grinding for stat-based armor, you can wear the armor you like and grind for the mods to round it out the way you want. Under this system, rather than fiddling with subclass nodes AND hoping for armor stats, both are present in a single system. Just takes a little fiddling around with. (And in this case, I'm just trying to be helpful, since it seems a lot of people haven't realized that armor actually control 6 separate stats now - everything's still present, it's all in one place now.)
-
Not saying your points aren't valid, they are. But it doesn't change the fact that many people dont agree with stats being "fixed". Get it? For example. You're playing Iron banner, you really want the helmet, you finally get the helmet, then realise it has no recovery at all whatsoever. There's no point in grinding for another iron banner helmet because you know the stats will be the same if you get it again. Make sense? As a loot based game that Destiny offers, players want to acquire the loot based on looks and stats. What does the loot do for me? Does it help me with recovery? Does it help me with mobility? Does it look good with the other stuff my character is wearing? These are questions people ask themselves when it comes to armor pieces. Instead, u find an amazing pair of boots from a New Monarchy faction drop and you personally think it looks best with a chest piece from Zavala, class item from the raid, arms from Shaxx and helmet from Saladin. These are just examples by the way. Ok so u love the look on your character, but now there's a chance that with those fixed stats on those specific armor pieces, your mobility might be 8, your resiliance might be 4 and your recovery is at 2. The sad part is there's no way to grind for those same pieces and have them drop with different stats to where it has more recovery n resilience and less mobility if that's what you wanted. It's fixed. THAT'S where I understand when people say D2 caters to the casual player. But for people looking for certain builds to THEN add mods to the gear and fiddle i believe u said, they have no desire to grind because all they need to do is get the gear once n realise it wasnt what thet were hoping for and stop grinding for it.

Editado por DaJuan Hoonoks: 10/18/2017 2:00:56 PMHere's an interesting question. Has Destiny 2 turned all its hardcore players into casuals? Here is my routine for the week, on Tuesday I'll do flashpoint, call to arms, and clan xp for 2 characters. On wednesday I'll do it all for that 3rd then run the nightfall on all 3 characters. I won't play Destiny 2 any more for the rest of the week unless a friend asks for help. I go back to D1 and get my treasure boxes and run nightfalls. There just isn't a point to play Destiny 2 when the flashpoint, call to arms, nightfall, and clan xp stuff is done. I'm not going flawless so why even expose myself to that shit. Before D2 I played D1 just about every day for a few hours at least. This game? Meh.... In D1 there was just so much to do and everything was far more rewarding, even when you didn't get anything you wanted or needed. Even the strike playlist was 1000 times better.

Well i consider myself a hardcore player i guess... idk how to check how many hours i put in on D1 but it was ALOT since i was earning income without having a legit job (u know what im saying?) But in D2 i quit all that n got a legit job so my time been less but i still played every chance i get. I don't even touch flashpoint, call to arms, regular nightfall, regular raid or clan xp anymore cuz there's no point. I'm already 305 with so many 300 guns and armor in the vault waiting to get infused into a weapon or armor that i don't have (which when they DO come out with new stuff I will more than likely get them at 300 anyway so I guess it's time to delete stuff in the vault). Being 305 n having everything the game has to offer makes me not have to do flashpoint. I dont have to do the regular nightfall. I'll do prestige only cuz its challenging. I dont have to do the regular raid. I will do probably 1 prestige raid for the shotgun quest n then never do it again since the gear n weapons wont be dropping over 300 anyway. My clan is maxed out at rank 6 since last week. I been flawless 8 times n flawless gear looks no different from regular gear but I do play from time to time to help friends n have fun so i guess there's that. So yeah man, I'm just chillin til the next event. Catchin up on Netflix shows like The Blacklist (amazing show) n hitting the gym 4 days a week. I guess I'm feelin casual than a muh right now. I ain't going back to D1 like u did though. That wouldn't make sense to me. Not saying it's wrong that u did, just for me personally I dont wanna go backwards.

I have a hard time letting go of all that sweet ass loot I acquired in Destiny 1. Plus I like to solo the nightfalls and get my treasure boxes.

I'll take you one or a few more further. Intellect Discipline Strength. Armor that gave you added armor when running a _________________ subclass and armor that added ammo to your weapons. Not only was grinding for that God roll weapon satisfying when you got it, but the search for the perfect Tier 12 build was awesome especially when you got an armor set that was T12 but having a tier 12 set for every subclass, man that was awesome. I was proud of my gear in D1. Now I don't give a shit.
