I don't understand why we honor a man who was one of the world's biggest sexual predators. And just because he did some good with his life doesn't outweigh the wrong he did and the sexual immorality he spread like a wildfire.
He'll be missed.
He never publicized or brought attention to the progress he helped make for racial equality, but he was a decent guy for what he did in that area.
Everyone's like, "He was such a great man." or "I'm glad this guy is fucking dead. He never respected wamen!"
I'm just like, "Eh, he put titties in a magazine, which made little teenage me horny."
Say what you will about the man, but he left an undeniable mark on our society, something that very few can ever hope to accomplish. May he Rest In Peace.
He was one of the last modern-day legends. Not just because he lived the life most men (and some women, I'd imagine) would only dream about.. but because of who he was, what he accomplished, and what he stood for.
This is a man who was able to create the most infamous magazine in the world during quite possible the most prudish time in American history. He openly and defiantly stood up for freedom of press, the rights of homosexuals, ending segregation, and female liberation during a time that actual lynchings were still a daily occurrence in this country. Now lets remember.. when Playboy was first published, the word "pregnant" wasn't even allowed on television and shows like "I love Lucy" had to show two beds in a bedroom of a married couple. Can you imagine the balls this guy had to do what he did at that time?
But clearly a guy who's whole career centered around getting women naked must have been perverted, chauvinist pig right? -blam!- no. He remained the definition of class to the ladies he employed with very few of the thousands of women who lived at that mansion ever having a negative thing to say about him. He helped both his male and female employees break drug addictions, escape abusive relationships, and go to collage so they had career opportunities after their time with Playboy/Playgirl. He treated everyone around him with respect and kindness even when he was powerful enough not to.
This man went to jail for what he believed in, donated countless dollars to those beliefs, and stood behind them completely until the day he passed away.
You were a true hero, Mr Hefner. And the world will be worse off without you in it.
R.I.P. bro...
