NOTE - This is not a tutorial on the mechanics of the fight. This is a strategy guide to get 110+ Skulls and defeat calus in one cycle. I am writing this with the assumption that those reading already have a general understanding of the mechanics of the encounter.
Set Up - Have 2 people go back to the throne room and clear ads, have the other 4 stay in the purple realm.
With 4 people in the realm everyone will still need to call out their symbol, 2 people will call out the same symbol because there are only 3 total that will be shown, so the people in the throne room will have to pay extra attention.
The reason why you can kill so many Skulls with this set up is because you will have 4 people in the realm shooting Skulls.
(This will only work if you have 2 people who are Very (VERY) good and will be able to handle all the ads and still kill the psions in the throne room. If you do not have the most skilled players, do the normal strategy although it will take longer and thus leave more room for errors. Which means more wipes and more time consumed.
Strategy - When you finish Punching the psions and the Skulls start coming out, although it's common sense it'd like to emphasize this: The 2 in the throne room need to wait as long as possible to take down calus' shield, get it down to low health but leave it alive until your screen turns white and you can't even see anything. If you wipe trying to get the timing right, it's ok. All you need to do is get it done correctly once as it will be trivial to kill calus in the first cycle.
What my group did (and what I recommend) is when it came to the damage phase: Start on the left platform farthest from Calus and rotate clockwise.
For specifics and to max dps (there is probably a better way to max dps, feel free to comment it, however with 110 Skulls it is not that important) here was our strategy. We had:
2 nightstalker hunters
1 arcstrider hunter
2 Warlocks of whatever class
And some other guy it doesn't really matter
On the first plate, we all jumped on and did normal dps, not using any supers or warlock damage rifts
On the second plate 1 of the night stalkers tethered calus and a warlock put down his damage rift
On the third plate the arcstrider jumped off and cleared ads while the other 5 continued dps
On the fourth and last plate, the remaining nightstalker tethered calus and the other warlock dropped his damage rift.
For weapons I'd recommed the cold heart, however it does not really matter that much as with 110 Skulls you will be shredding calus and will have him down on the first cycle, with time to spare.
I'd like to mention that I got in a group of all randoms from LFG last night, and we defeated calus with this strategy second try. (First try some guy died in the realm idk how, I think maybe he jumped and got sucked in)
I really hopes this helps you all as I know that Calus can be a big pain to defeat.
I'm looking to run the raid again tomorrow (reset Tuesday)
If anyone is interested with doing it with me feel free to add me on Xbox
GT: AIRdawg dude
Or join my clan
The Baiters
I'll be running people in my clan through the raid all week.

What's best for shooting the skulls? The highest I can get is 70x or 80x multiplier with my auto rifle and barricade

Good post I'll have to try it with my team!

9 RespuestasGreat strat, thanks for posting it. I will argue that you're handicapping yourself needlessly though with the 4/2 approach. Do a 3v3 approach and the throne room team will have a bit more leeway for error. To gain more skulls, you don't always just need more people. Hear me out here, but my group discovered that a rally shield at the skulls portion timed properly negates the need to reload (which is the biggest time killer in skulls). Now that you don't need to reload, you just need to consider positioning. If everyone in the shadow realm bunches together all the skulls will attack you guys in a straight line instead of spreading out. Between the rally shield and bunching up, you can get 100 skulls without issue with 3 people and not have to stress your throne room team out too much. Now if your throne room team is boss and well equipped, go for it, but my above strategy is a bit better for your more averagely skilled/equipped groups imo.

7 RespuestasIve been preaching this strat for days on here. 4 in shadow realm. The raid launcher is pretty good for this and def coldheart. Havent one cycled him yet only got him down to 5% health but i think we just dont jump on platforms efficiently lol. Try again today.

If people cannot handle 3 - 3 they should not be trying 4 - 2. This is just my opinion. You can easily get a stack of 90x+ with 3 - 3 which is more than enough to kill him in 1 cycle if you want to do so. People need to stop over complicating things. This strategy is not easy, it will work, but you will spend more time trying than if you try doing it using the classic 3 - 3 scenario, specially if you are not comfortable doing the 3-3 strat. Find a decent team, with people who can communicate and try doing it in 2 cycles. If you can't stay alive for more than 1 cycle nor get close to 90x stack then that's your problem.

4 RespuestasThis has been posted a few times already. Congrats to your group, but credit should be given to the originator... whoever that may be. Feels like self promoting plagiarism.
-
32 Respuestaswho the fk cares honestly.. people already beat him 3+ times already.. and the people who cant do it well they dont deserve to finish if they cant get a team together that will do it.. to many nubs and scrubs out there

7 RespuestasCould that possibly be the raid challenge? Killing calus in 1 cycle?
-
10 RespuestasPeople, before first teleport does your group kill the 4 psions for free heavy? It's awesome right? NO. FOR EACH OF THESE PSIONS KILLED IT SPAWNS ADDS, SO WHEN YOU HIT ALL 4 AND THEN LEAVE YOUR 2 THRONE GUYS ALONE THEY WILL DIE.
-
1 Respuesta3 titans with sweet business and actium war rig could do more than that lol
-
1 RespuestaThe two people in the throne rooms need kill adds and also hit their pcions, that means the void team needs to be on point with their callouts or have the 4th person call out which one to hit.
-
3 RespuestasIt would be interesting to see the dmg numbers of a bow vs a Golden Gun shot with Celestial Nighthawk. Goldun gun with like a 60x multiplier does a bit over 300K.

3 RespuestasI saw Gladd's channel Calus 1 Phase

1 RespuestaClass strat, lucky you found two beasts who could cope with the throne room. Give me an add GT: I 4D I DINKAAAY (the first and 4th character is i). 292 Warlock Feel free to send me an invite to fireteam whenever you're on, always up for raid nightfall etc. Cheers

1 Respuesta
This will only work if you have 2 people who are Very (VERY) good and will be able to handle all the ads and still kill the psions in the throne room.
Sorry, but doesn't having to have 2 "very (VERY)" good people kinda negate the "easy" part of this? I would think an easy strategy should be able to done by a group of average players...
-
1 RespuestaTried to run this strategy last night, the people outside couldn't get it done, we had me a 288 hunter and a 292 warlock in the throne room and could control adds without dying. But, it is a lot of work every round just to have the realm people wipe. If you have a high level classed out squad it would be beautiful I am sure.

6 Respuestas"2 Warlocks of whatever class" The ONLY subclass a Warlock should be using for Calus is Stormcaller. Arc Soul does incredible damage and also provides passive skull kills by itself. Pulse Grenades (as well as Vortex & Solar) are great sources of additional PASSIVE DPS while you are shooting Calus.

2 RespuestasDoes his shield regen at all?
-
It sounds good, although I don't know why you really need to clear adds...should be fine on the platforms. Just have a gunslinger to add to the damage. Unless I'm missing something
-
Used a similar strat. Seems best to have four only on the first phase. After that the void is too crazy for 4. Two cycle kill pretty easily
-
-
13 RespuestasMight be forgetting the amount of adds that still spawn inside the room
-
Great post! My group will get usually around 85 and occasionally over 90 but with 3/3 teams. This 4/2 strat is very effective but the 2 inside need to be on point!
-
Very nice strat
-
5 RespuestasJust to point out tether doesn't increase damage dealt by allies, so generally you would be better with golden gun.
-
3 RespuestasHey bud, 282 Titan, if I added you, do you think I could get a spot on one of the runs? x5oclockshadowx is my gamer tag!
