Nightfall. What were you thinking?

D2 has been very fun so far. Until...... The first nightfall is not even close to fun. 10 mintues? 2 seconds per kill? No bomus for head shots? I hope all nightfalls are not like this. I also wish your weapons has a right bumber wheel to switch heavy weapons. Where are the rocket launchers? Grende launcher is pretty useless.

  • Oh god forbid the game is actually hard in its endgame content. The rat king quest actually made me feel like I accomplished something. I was literally shaking, I was light headed. It was less about the reward and more about the fact that we did it. That's good game design.

    • Time limits really punish people who want to solo or do it as 2. If people want to take an hour to complete a nightfall, who cares?

      • It's end-game content. Harden up and stop expecting everything to be handed to you. I say it's about time something in Destiny 2 required some effort to complete. Game's been too easy up until the Nightfall

        • I agree there needs to be "harder" content but I think they should add matchmaking for all content. I'm fine with their being timers and special conditions for them. They should add options to choose crucible modes too.

            /EDIT I was wrong, it is doable. I see how now after completing it. We only had 41 secs left, but we had several screw ups so I think 2+ mins was definitely doable. 5 mins still seems really tough, but possible. The really big key for us was calling out the burns ASAP and having Energy Weapons with some decent range. Also, the first fire bomb our teammate just ran as fast as possible and slammed it in. The only other thing we did was use our Sparrows on the outside part to get back inside ASAP. /END I agree. My problem is it's simply not fair. I don't know a single person that's completed WITHOUT cheesing it and that can't be what Bungie really intended!? Here's the thing, if you want to have the timer on there to earn an exotic that's fine, but don't automatically end the activity because time expires! Let me and my team at least continue and try to finish the damn thing legit.

Grende launcher is pretty useless.[/quote] I like it personally, it makes everything a good deal more challenging and it doesn't seem like spamming the boss with the same op gun works....lol, just my 2 cents on the matter

              • Timing Nightfall is a very bad idea. It's funny to waste time on it when I can get exotics from fun public events.

                • Well even though I have a small clan going I've always been a solo player the timer is good and bad it's bad for those who want to do nightfall solo it's good cause i enjoy a good challengecame close to 5mins remaining haven't gotten there that's even with killing all enemie's so does who say they done it with 7 or more mins remaining show me a video without it being edited. Other than that GREAT GAME SO FAR

                  • It's a modifier... If you can't do it then keep trying, it gives high end rewards everytime now but only guarantees 1 luminous engram so you can farm it.. Didn't have too many issues, I got rat king 3rd attempt, also if you're having trouble learn from playing Destiny.... it says 240 power.... It's NEVER easy at that point, add 30-40 power and then you'll be on par with enemies and it won't be as hard, it's do able but you will struggle... Stop crying and just do it! The only issue I have is the points where you are forced to wait for doors to open and elevator to go without having to protect ghost but the timer doesn't pause....that shits not our fault!

                    Beat it last night on 2nd try. Would have had it in first try had we not goofed up on our sparrows and got stuck in a room for a few minutes. We even got one of the challenges done for extra rewards at the end. Have each member of your team represent one element. For example, we had 1 Warlock and 2 Hunters in my group. I ran Arc super with 2 Arc weapons in Energy and Power slots. One Hunter went Solar super and dual solar weapons and the final Hunter was all Void. We were able to steam roll through the burn switches that way. Also, there are huge chunks you can skip. A good chunk you can just roll through on your sparrow provided you don't get killed then stuck while doing so. You don't have to kill every ad in every room. When in the tank room, you only need to kill the tank on the top platform. We completely skipped and left alive the tank on the bottom floor. You don't have to waste time on that one. Make sure you have your gear modded the way you want before entering. I went literally full recovery and 0 mobility on my Warlock. Sure I moved like a brick but I healed up fast and stayed alive most of the time. We were all 265+ too. If you're well below that, you're going to have a hard time. I know minimum requirement is 240 but that's ridiculous. I feel like you'd be absolutely shredded at 240.

                    • I don't like the Destiny 2 Nightfall with Timer. I absolute hate Time Limits. I think the Vanilla Nightfalls with all dead -> back to Orbit was the perfekt Way a Nightfall should be. -blam!-ing Timer stinks

                        • This post hurts my head to read. Getting a headshot in PvE is not hard, it shouldn't be rewarded by anything except the bonus damage. Nightfall is fine. Stop complaining.

                          The only thing that bothered me about it is paying attention to the feed so I can know what the element to use was. It was pretty easy to miss amidst all of the action. Though I get the idea of teamwork and communication so there's a love hate relationship there. Anyway I loved it. Nightfall had the threat of failure, challenge, and fun. Just because it actually challenges you doesn't mean it is bad. The timer has nothing to do with it I am sure. There is no challenge in how it was before, which is hide and plink at enemies until they all die. Now having not enough solo challenges and rewards for it I do agree. I don't mind this game being social and whatnot but ignoring solo play is and always will be foolish in my book.

                          • The Nightfall in my opinion, is great. A real sense of urgency, need for communication and team organization. Its what I expect an endgame activity should be. Its possible without cheesing, without rockets, without snipers. Just have to learn the strike, know where to push hard, and when to hold back and team shoot. We did it our second try.

                            Forgot to say I like the bonus time on headshots idea, could maybe do more that way as it is a test for efficiency and that is a show of it. Win win I say.

                          • i agree. when me and my team were doing it not just for the nightfall rewards but for the rat king quest, we had trouble due to the fact that when you needed to use the ghost, the ghost took its time along with only getting 2 seconds per kill on regular ads which is fine but i was told by my team member which had completed it twice that when you use the right element it should increase the time per kill like if you kill one ad instead of 2 second it would be like 4.....maybe? can someone clarify please?

                              • I prefer this new Nightfall mechanic - much more engaging and challenging. I hope to god Bungie don't change it back to the dullness of the 1st Destiny.

                              • At first, my team and I had a problem with it. We stopped playing and attempted it the next day and beat it first try. After that we attempted to complete it with 5 minutes left and after a few tries we got it. Now we run the nf for fun and get it done with five minutes left almost every time. I think the mechanic is a bit extreme and I really dont believe they did their math right, its diffinitely not recommended 240 light. More like 270.
