D2's 3-year plan?

Is there such a thing yet. A lot of us have been here from day 1 giving feedback on all things unpopular or problematic with the game. So what is Bungie planning to do over the next 3 years before we commit to purchase. Biggest gripe besides lack of MM and vault storage is leaving gear behind. Yet it's more than that, it's not just the gear. It's actually playable content that yields useable gear. If Bungie stays on track then all of this gear & playable content we are about to shell out $60 for will be rendered useless upon the release of the 1st dlc. Or just nostalgic as Bungie puts it. I for one would like actual expansions, not reductions where only the most recent content is viable. Being stuck playing such a small portion of the game for the sake of progression gets boring all too quick. I'd rather start the game at max level or no character leveling system at all. All XP gains are just for leveling gear, weapons and ability nodes. That keeps all content in play and viable.

  • tbh the only thing i want the armor from my D1 guardian and vault for would be a type of Transmog system where i can be wearing one piece of armor but it has the look of another (for armor other than legendaries that shouldn't be a big deal, and even with guns as long as they are the same type of gun it shouldn't matter a whole lot in PvP) as for their 3 year plan, i hope it includes a lot of vex, i love them as an enemy and hope we get a lot more of them in the future (i still want that Vex dragon that was rumored about at launch of D1)

    • D1 was supposed to last 2 years, but the release of D2 was delayed. If Bungie manages their schedule properly this time, then D2 will run for 2 years, not 3 years.

      • There is no plan, since year one Bungie has been doing nothing but winging this game. Let's try this, ooh lets see what happens with this. Nah change that and make it this. Nope, change it again. Hmm screw it! This is too much work, lets just removed a good portion of the game and call it a new one...

Considering d1 was meant to be a two year game, activision brought in two other studios to help with building the content bungie creates for d2, and lastly that there are still two more contracted flagship releases for the contract between bungie and activision: I don't think there will be a three year plan for destiny 2.

I agree with you. IMO it would be nice to see 3 dlcs releasing winter, fall and spring. But then on the anniversary (or there abouts) have a true full expansion. Something that adds the amount of content somewhat on par (probably a bit less) with the release. They could also revamp and expand areas that existed in Destiny (not necessarily bring back all the areas, but they could bring back a planet) and rediscover them after the dust settles (some people do not like this, but I would be for it). Even creating new planets or spaces in the solar system to discover would be awesome. With multiple studios working on content an expansion similar to this should be feasible.

          • Bungies way....expand by contraction , then sell it all back to you as New content. It will most likely be the same as Destiny 1 no doubt. Still gonna play Destiny 2 though.

          • Very smart to ask this question. One of the things that pissed me off as a player was the fact that we ground our butts off so hard in Y1 to get this amazing gear, only to have it be left behind. Even worse was the fact that we had hope that our gear would start to carry forward, as we desired, with the HoW update and the implementation of Etheric Light. The only thing worse than leaving all of our favorite stuff behind was the fact that we had to grind to get it again when Bungie later brought it back. I don't mind that Bungie brought it back, but it is really irritating to have to go grind for a separate version of what we already had previously, primarily because Bungie had a really poor long-term plan. Players do not want to have things taken away from them, ONLY to have to grind to get higher-light versions of what we already had. Bungie simply needs to make a decision. If they're carrying forward, then carry it all forward for the life of the game. If not, then leave them behind and keep it that way. But the whole taking stuff away from us only to give it back to us later is getting really old REALLY quickly.

            • Well one thing people need to get used to is the kind of game this is. What you call a reduction in reference to DLC isn't a reduction and it's something that happens in most living world games because it's pretty much unavoidable. It's called power creep and when new, more powerful content comes out that raises the cap, you need higher level weapons and other gear. What I assume you want is for all gear in the game to rise up with the game which seems like a peachy idea until you go to try and balance it and realize you can't because you've flooded the game with a whole bunch of new, more powerful loot. Basically you can have one of two things: You can either have new, fresh gear with new perks and powers and etc., OR you can have all weapons grow up with the game and therefore nothing is ever obsolete, it's just all old and overused and you end up getting "new" guns in DLC's that have the same perks and powers. Gotta give a little to get and in living world games like Destiny, WoW, even something like Runescape, gear is left behind and rendered obsolete in the name of new, powerful gear. Not ALL previous gear should be left behind mind you, but lots of it should in order to make the game function better.

                  • Bungie made the standard. Theater mode, playable enemy characters, space battles, hijackable land and air light and heavy vehicles, 16man and up big team battles, customizable private and public lobbies, community fileshared custom variants and maps, 4 man story modes, energy and kinetic weapons, more than 10 default online multiplayer options for varied preferences, and a storyline remembered decades later by generations who never even played the original. What did destiny introduce? Destiny. 3 years of nerfs and buffs of day one content. This community is shit. Demand content you useless shitz! This isnt bungie or activisions first game so why do you idiots keep acting like it is? They sold destiny on the promise of what it could be with the two biggest names in game production building it and all you ignorant ass children do is ask for tweaks of day one content. Who the fuq failed your parents?

                    • D2 is a 2 year plan. It's in Bungie's contract with Activision. There is supposed to be big release each year: retail release - major DLC - retail release - major DLC - retail release - major DLC - retail release - major DLC. D2 was delayed a year because Bungie screwed up.

Yeah, i agree. Bungie, quite foolishly, has a habbit of making the existing world irrelevant. They kinda cut their own throats on the content topic by not simply keeping every existing activity up to date.

                        • Does it have to have a 3 year plan? I'd rather it just be a solid and concentrated 5-6 months of high quality content then them trying to spread things thin to last for years.

                        • D2 doesn't have a "3-year plan". It barely has a 4-month plan: - Release the game that will have comparable lack of content to D1. - Poor reviews will cause DLC sales to plummet. - Game slowly falls into obscurity as other games are released. - The Destiny franchise dies because of developer stupidity. PvE is the game. When you sacrifice that, you have nothing left to offer players.
