Timers?....really bungie?

This is the dumbest thing to have players rush through levels blowing past mobs on they're sparrows not playing or enjoying the game the way they want to. I don't understand why bungie would do this? Plus locked load outs will make the game very boring using the same gun.

  • You usually run past adds anyway. If it's an unrealistic timer yeah but I feel it'll be 30 minutes like with the current timer

    • Because you constantly changed guns in nightfall?? Dont think so. Timers will prolly be on limited content only ie NF etc It was already implemented in form of IB bounty. I asmit it would be cool if the timer was for additional loot. Anyways, dont want to rush? Go play normal strikes. Oh wait... EVERYONE RUSHES THOSE I swear, every reason to whine is good nowadays.

      • yup. The whole point of playing a game is for entertainment and escapism. No one wants to be put under preasure (especially in a game built for casual players) or have it feel like a job where you have to get x missions complete in x time. Is the point of missions with timers to play less of them? The idea of homework is to get less of it. Seems dumb and pointless to me.

        • The locked load outs I can deal with but the timers are lame af as they don't help maintain high replay value in my opinion. These scrubs Luke Smith and Jon W. probably came up with this illogical idea to implement timers.

            I hope the first nightfall for D2 has, Berserk Chaff Epic Exposure Fresh Troops Grounded Heroic Juggler Ironclad Lightswitch Nightfall* And Trickle Also a glitch in the reward that give out only rare gears or decode legedary to rare and materials. Yeah, add that timer and points too!

            • Timers are very bad for nightfalls. Locked loadouts means there will be one set if weapons that is best and nothing else. Players are losing more and more freedom to play their way.

              • I like the idea , will make players work together , also year one players need the extra challenges to keep us interested. I thought bungie was going to make 2 way to easy for veterans to compensate for the cry babies maybe they realized the whines on the forums are nothing more than that !

              • You may not like it but myself and the people I play with can't wait. We will know what the modifiers are and most likely by the time we do a nightfall we may have done the strike a dozen times. It will be about planning and teamwork kinda like boss fights in a Raid. Take to long and the Boss gets pissy and enrages and wipes your entire team. But what will be different is modifiers, and that is where planning is really going to come into play. Plus with Locked Loadouts it's not going to be hey I am using this because I use it all the time. No it will be I will use this to cover short and mid, Demon_Slayer_Lady_Killer you run with a Scout and either a sniper or Rocket Launcher. And xXMy_Mom_Says_im_SpecialXx go mid and long range but run Void Walker to use Devouring State to clear the red bar adds. After one run hum we need to switch this up we were 1:15 seconds short how can we pick that up, besides having Im_Special not die every 10 seconds.

              • I really don't have a problem with adding timers. I think it will add a challenging aspect to Nightfalls. If you are not geared (lvl, light, whatever) you will not be able to complete it. If you want to "enjoy" taking your time do a normal strike, no one is forcing you to do a nightfall. Locked loadouts is not a big issue with me either. If Bungie follows the same sort of formula for Destiny in Destiny 2, you will know what (if any) modifiers are active before you start the strike. Even if they don't include modifiers, you will most likely have ran the strike before, so you should know what to expect. In destiny were you bored with using i.e. a solar weapon, when solar burn was active in a Nightfall? No matter the circumstance, you are going to choose which setup is best for each nightfall.

                    Timers are a mainstay of video-game culture and are typically only seen in situations that are not meant to be easy going or casual, ie: stressful situations. Nightfalls are not meant to be stress free activities.

                  • NIghtfall is about rewards, not the scenery or the mobs. You want those things? Go play Patrol, Strike playlists, Story etc. Seriously, there is a Timer in the NF right now for the Sunrise bounty. My team always likes seeing how quick we can get it done.... People will bitch about anything these days....its getting ridiculous.

                    • Literally everyone runs past the adds, and Nightfalls don't take any longer than 15 minutes even if you're taking your time.

                    • I personally dont like Time Attack stuff like this cause I get super anxious and worried. Freaking anxiety. If its long enough like in the Prison of Elders 2.0 then ill be okay with it. We really need to see how long they give us. Is it short that elitisy players can handle easy and others struggle? Or medium length so casuals have to try harder but can still do it and elitists dont think its too long? Or long for casuals and elitists think its a joke?

                    • I have to agree. I don't like the idea of having a timer to finish the Nightfall nor having my loadout locked during a mission. The timer is going to make player try to rush the mission and not really enjoy the play time. That's why we carry multiple weapons and gear so we can switch depending on the enemies we encounter. I preordered the game and I wish I would've hold on until game was released instead. These are some dumb thing to implement for the Nightfall mission or any mission.

                      • Why do you assume that that will happen at all? You're assuming a lot about a timer that's only on one activity. As it is now with the sunrise timer plenty of strikes can easily be done under time and killing everything. Also you're complaining that nightfall strikes, something you get to choose your team for so you can choose people that won't rush past everything, will be like how strikes are in D1 right now with no timer. You're making a lot of assumptions and getting yourself in a tizzy over nothing except you're desire to feel like it's a bad thing.

Because that's what people always do Run through the Mobs to get to the final boss to try and get loot then do it again

                          • It's only on the nightfall. This way you can experience the strike normally first, but then you have to learn the strike better to do it faster to complete the nightfall. It increases the difficulty a little. Besides, there is already a nightfall timer in D1.

                          • Timers and Locked Loadouts are very, very dumb. I won't be doing it until they fix it in October. Bring back kick to orbit on a wipe and don't implement stupid timers and locked loadouts.

                          • It is lazy development. To the people saying "it makes it challenging," NO, it doesn't. It is dumb ass mechanic that removes fun from the experience without adding anything back. Not to mention that LFGs will go back to the 'must have x weapon' mentality. Don't say they wont either, they will, it is inevitable. Locked loadouts will contribute to that mentality also.

                          • Bungie: Look at all this great new stuff we are implementing! Oh but you'll need to find a dedicated group of people to have the best experience possible. If you can't enjoy a game by yourself or with randoms you meet in the game its poor game design. Dedicated groups (clans) should only enhance the experience, it shouldn't be a requirement for enjoying the content.
