1 RespuestaWell, a fair amount of republicans were recently found to be ok with the idea of Trump suspending future elections so it's not like many Americans are feeling very America right now.
-
The whole generation thing is BS anyways.
-
8 RespuestasCareful when generalizing millennials. The older ones (coming into their mid 30s) tend not to share the younger ones' point of view.

Millennial civil war! Millennial civil war! Millennial civil war!

106 RespuestasIn the UK we have hate speech laws banning: "Expressions of hatred toward someone on account of that person's colour, race, disability, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origin, religion, or sexual orientation is forbidden. Any communication which is threatening or abusive, and is intended to harass, alarm, or distress someone is forbidden. The penalties for hate speech include fines, imprisonment, or both." This doesn't really seem like a significant loss of freedom to me, because all I lose is the freedom to make life worse for other people, and in return I gain a measure of protection. Any thoughts?

2 RespuestasHere's a great perspective on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC2jhQ0KAAU Don't agree with his crap on handguns and assault weapons, but the main body of it is really good stuff.

Editado por aliensnail: 8/16/2017 4:49:17 PMThe Millennials that want to limit free speech are annoying prices of crap, that were raised to be that way by their even worse pieces of crap parents. Not all of them, just the stupid ones.

2 RespuestasI swear, every idiot on this damn site anymore is just looking for a group of people to blame their problems on. Clearly your older, but you still need a big case of grow the -blam!- up.
-
3 RespuestasThe problem with Americans and free speech, is that a lot of them believe that free speech means freedom from consequences of speech.

Editado por OldboyVicious: 8/16/2017 5:00:43 AMWill we limit speech directed at white people if it is equally hateful? Who gets to decide what the definition of "offensive" is? If there were laws enacted to enforce this, would two black people calling each other the "N-word" suddenly be illegal? And would it be legal to call a white person that word?
-
Surveys aren't valid study mediums. Here are a number of reasons why: 1. Social desirability bias. Some people answer to be seen in a more positive light, and won't answer with how they actually feel. 2. What counts as offensive language? The subject in itself is highly subject to opinion. 3. 40% of millenials? More like 40% of the small number of millenials the researchers picked up.

3 RespuestasRemember the lesson reminded to us in Star Wars Episode III... Freedom dies to the sound of thunderous applause.
-
This is why a lot of comedians no longer go to colleges to do stand up.
-
It's a slippery slope. Draw the line here my friends, or it'll only get worse.

Any speech that's offensive to a large group of people shouldn't be publicized, but making jokes and stuff with your friends or trolling online is totally fine. Even if you do have negative feelings for a group of people, that's ok, just don't go around expressing those feelings radically because then you become a terrorist. I don't care whether your black, white, Chinese, Russian, American, or an attack helicopter. We should all just respect eachothers' opinions no matter how much they trigger us. The people that were there for the civil rights movement are alive today and may still have that hate for black people. As long as the racists aren't harming people, which they are, it's ok. On a quick side note, I think it's important to remember that anyone can have a prejudice towards anyone, and while the most common example is Caucasian and African American people, there are way more. Well my little piece of pie is out on the plate now, but what do I know, I'm just a dumb millennial whose generation Is apparently destroying the economy, housing market, and independently owned businesses.

3 RespuestasWhy do you feel the need to go around using offensive speech?
-
Because we don't give a shit about all those -blam!- boys over reacting to bs
-
15 RespuestasIt is cultural Marxism. Millennials were raised to care more about feelings than the truth. The left continues to push that compassion, tolerance and acceptance are the greatest virtues a person can have. So much so that they take precedence over the truth. Ironically defending those virtues even warrants violence in most cases too.

12 RespuestasThat's surprising given that at least 75% of millennials have no good sense at all.

Editado por Cultmeister: 8/15/2017 7:14:12 PMLimiting ideas is fascist ideology. People should be allowed to say what they want. Creating a taboo is one thing, such as for the word n-----, but saying that people shouldn't be legally allowed to say such things is completely immoral. That's not what democracy exists for.

2 RespuestasThis is good news to me. I thought we were way more screwed, i expected least 60%.

43 RespuestasEditado por Lordsa Jar-Jar: 8/15/2017 3:32:28 AMSame problem here in Australia. At the moment it's the gay marriage laws going out as a postal vote. I'll grantee most will vote yes, compared to maybe 30-35% who would vote no. It just goes to show how our communities are being brainwashed by this political correctness bullshit. Makes me sad for the future.

Im guessing 40% of millennials are a minority and are too soft to take shit.
