I recently had a debate with a friend about who had the biggest influence in WW2. Personally I think the Russians did based on the fact that they sacrificed the most and also killed the most Germans. The Russians killed more Germans than all other Allied countries combined. And the Battle of Stalingrad is widely considered to be the turning point of the war. My friend, however, disagrees. He thinks if it wasn’t for America, we would’ve lost the war. I think this is the result of our education system that teaches kids we single handedly saved the world from Germans. What’s your guys’ opinion?

Without US interference- Germany loses still but war takes longer and Europe possibly falls completely and loss of life is greater. Without USSR interference- Germany has a much better chance. They only lost because they fought a war on two fronts, and the Russians were so well mobilized under Stalin. If they could've focused their arms on the West, Britain would've fallen and so would've the rest of Europe.

5 RespuestasCountries officially in active coalition with the Axis USSR (until June 22, 1941, Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact) http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Molotov-Ribbentrop_Pact Interesting reading concerning the German Russian pact. When Germany attacked Russia it ended their alliance. The Battle of Stalingrad was considered a huge emotional mistake on Hitler's part, Hitler wanted the city because it was named after Stalin and ordered his troops to continue fighting even when he was advised against it. I have no idea what they teach in schools now, but we learned about the Allied forces being the driving force in WW2 against Germany . Why aren't they a choice? The number of prisoners taken in the west in March and April was over 1,800,000, more than double the 800,000 German soldiers who surrendered to the Russians in the last three or four months of the war. Allied forces numbers vs Russian numbers. A lot of interesting information out there concerning WW2, I don't know between the 2 countries who contributed more, the US was never allied with the Germans and they way the people stepped up to help before and after Pearl Harbor was impressive.

The lend lease agreement really helped alot of European countries stay in the fight. It could have been won(on the eastern front that is) without the us but it would have taken much longer and would have been much more devastating

6 RespuestasWithout the US, we would still have won, it would have just taken longer. The USSR was a formidable machine that basically tired the Germans out, making it easier to destroy them. I think the US' main victory was in helping to defeat the Japanese rather than the axis as a whole.

The USSR probably did more, but without one or the other we probably would've lost.

Russia would have collapse without US aid.
