10 RespuestasWithout Religion the US wouldn't have been founded

2 RespuestasI think some factors of religion can be applied to government definitely. But religion should not be forced upon the populace by the government.
-
I like how people are defending mixing church and the state. Secularism is the only correct path. You allow people to make their own decisions and not be brainwashed by the government at a young age to think a certain way. That's why the Bible should not be taught in public schools. That's why God should be removed from the pledge and money. That's why the Ten Commandments should be removed from government property. Anyone that wants Christain values taught in schools or sprinkled throughout American politics better be okay with the Quran being taught and the pledge having a version saying Allah. This is America. Founded on secular ideas whether you think it was or wasn't.

Yes. So much yes.

2 RespuestasEditado por ReignofSpartain: 7/29/2017 5:37:48 PMNot according to facebook "If you believe god belongs in our government and schools, type amen" Cringe from relatives in florida/tenn. ^^they are breeding. Its scary. Putting their kids in private education to teach what they want into the children. That was the beginning of when things went wrong.

Ban religion.
-
7 RespuestasAgreed. Religion is antiquated and must be destroyed by any means necessary.
-
1 RespuestaHonestly it shouldn't exist in the first place. Just because we don't know something doesn't mean a god must be the explanation
-
I disagree. Politics and government have no place in the church.
-
2 Respuestas
In other words, Religion shouldnt influence decisions made by the government
Or their just shouldn't be government.
-
2 RespuestasEditado por Vicex: 7/29/2017 10:50:20 PMReligion is inherent in politics, and thus government as it is the ethos of a group of people. You cannot separate religion from politics and more than you can separate opinion from politics. If politics and bodies were governed based on logic and reason, as a opposed to opinions such as religion, then it wouldn't be politics- it'd be science.
-
2 RespuestasYeah sure, perhaps religion has no place in anything
-
7 RespuestasSo you want your government to be more closed minded? Seems crazy to me but okay...
-
4 RespuestasYes government needs to stay out of religion
-
Define religion. Define politics. Define government. Using these definitions, explain why religion ought to be separate from the state. Bonus points for explaining how you prevent any fraternization between the two.
-
3 RespuestasNo, I'd completely disagree. Immensely. Separate your system of beliefs on life from your system of beliefs on how people should live? That's insane.
-
Too bad it is.
-
5 RespuestasBe careful, you might get the conservatives autisticly screeching at you.

6 Respuestas
I think there's one thing we can all agree on: Religion has no reason to be in Politics or Goverment
You would be wrong. We cannot agree on that. Look at America.
-
21 Respuestas
In other words, Religion shouldnt influence decisions made by the government
Religion is weaved into every person's worldview. What you're saying is equivalent to saying that carbon has no place in organic life.
-
Well if we look at the United States (the first truly secular nation, mind you), religion directly influencing government is unconstitutional due to the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. Therefore, any government official that tries to bring their religious faith into their decisions, anything on public property espousing the endorsement or favoritism of one religion over another is unconstitutional. We see these cases on a far more frequent basis than what should be considered acceptable.

That's where you're wrong, kiddo
Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice ? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. - George Washington, 1796 farewell address
