Many of us got the beta to test the gameplay not your network testing.
That's not Bungie's problem.
This is twice now you've claimed it's a months old build and you didn't even remember what you shipped in it now?
Because the boss dude says "I want a build by <insert date here>" and then the grunts keep working. He doesn't say "I want a build with <insert features here>" and then micromanages them.
How am I supposed to have any confidence in the final product?
You could trust that since Bungie is a legendary developer and the beta was more or less fun, the final product will have its issues ironed out. Or you could not and wait for release like ye olde days. Maybe they'll be terrible and you'll finally have a valid excuse to stop playing.

Editado por Kone19ps: 7/27/2017 4:53:59 PMBungie should know what they shipped. Luke Smith clearly didn't. So he should either shut the hell up or know what he is talking about. All he did was shake my confidence more so I will no longer purchase. Reviews will decide now. And no after D1 I can never trust bungie again.
Bungie should know what they shipped. Luke Smith clearly didn't
I don't think it's fair to hold the director responsible for implementation details. That's like asking him "how much damage does the Nergal do on a headshot?" Not his job to know at any given point. It's his job to ensure that, by the end, it feels good.
And no after D1 I can never trust bungie again.
Then why did you ever consider trusting the beta?

Especially such minimal content and it being the only puzzle in their flagship mission and it being actively changed because of their difficulty ramp up. (Which the difficulty increase reasoning I'm ok with, my problem is the PR and I disagree that the second spinner was the issue it was the shit notifier and antigravity in the room)
Then why did you ever consider trusting the beta?
Because I was willing to spend $5 to gauge my purchase. I can transfer that $5 to whatever I want now.

It's totally fair to hold the boss accountable for a bad final product. It is not fair to expect the boss to have an intimate understanding of each of the component parts in a non-final product. That's too much information. You have to remember that the beta is a slice of the final product, not separate. Homecoming doesn't get more attention because it's a beta mission. So what of Bungie aren't you trusting? Their marketing? Their ability to make a game? In a no-trust environment I'd think you'd wait for the game to release and get patched.
-
I am waiting for release. Like I said the beta would have helped me trust the product for the $60. It failed to convince me so I'm waiting. But yes if I were to propose a research paper I would be expected to be intimately familiar with the submitted abstract and proposal including differences from the final version and expected changes prior to presentation. Game companies aren't held to a medical profession standard but those are my standards. I'm not calling for his firing but his ignorance shook my confidence in his ability to direct the team and improve the poor interdepartmental communication bungie has been notoriously lacking in.
-
Luke Smith isn't proposing a research paper though. He's like the head of a department. He's not going to know what rough drafts of a paper made its way to which reviewers. You'd expect the level designer to know what changes made it in, but last I checked nobody asked him.
-
If this was just information about the game separate from a beta I would agree. But this is again the only thing in the public eye. Luke smiths desk should have two things on it. A list of everything he should know about the beta build and everything else. A change to one of two puzzles in the entire beta should be highlighted and bolded. (Subdivided however I'll assume millions of post its because it makes me giggle). Or he simply could have never mentioned his ignorance. Then I'd still be on the fence. Like I've said his ignorance shook my confidence in their studio communication enough where I've lost enough confidence in the game on top of my own preferences to drop my preorder.
-
I honestly do not see why he should care how many turbines are in the engine room. That is not a significant change when they're in the middle of iterating. More importantly, that wasn't a change that was made for the beta. It was a change made some point after the beta. Do you expect him to keep a rolling changelog with every minute difference from the last internal release?
-
One mission one strike. Not a whole lot of pve content to keep track of.
-
It is when you've already made changes to those and the rest of the content in the full game.
-
Editado por Kone19ps: 7/28/2017 1:34:31 AMHe doesn't need to keep track of those changes. Just the differences between beta and release. Something they should have preplanned for and seemingly potentially did somewhat if I let myself be optimistic. Regardless like I've said it doesn't take much for me to drop a preorder. Luke's ignorance came off as apathy to me.
-
Every inconsequential change between beta and release? As they happen and are in flux? Don't be ridiculous.
-
Nope just major changes between beta and now. Like I've said a change to one of two puzzles in the entire beta is not small to me.
-
In the grand scheme of things it's a molehill, I can't stop you from treating it like a mountain.
-
Editado por Kone19ps: 7/28/2017 2:44:57 AMI could say the same about my commitment to preorders. All it takes is a molehill because I don't really like preorders to begin with. Only reason I considered was with a game like destiny playing with the biggest crowd which is early is a distinct advantage in progressing as a solo player before the groups get selective with requirements and activities are populated. Now I'm hesitant and will wait for reviews, then likely a discount since release has a self life so every day full price loses value (hopefully its a year before the dlc lockouts)
