Abilities seem weak in pve

I know this the beta but when I'm using some of the supers and grenades, well they seem very under powered. The golden gun for example is probably the worst super in d2 so far. Also the scatter grenades are horrible in pve. Not to mention the charge times for everything are driving me nuts. Anyone else having these same issues? Honestly I like the weapon system for pvp only, pve on the other hand should have d1 set up.

  • The slowness of Arcstrider and the terrible damage of Golden Gun have completely put me off of Hunter. Been playing Hunter since D1 beta, and now I'm focusing everything on Titan because of how bad Hunters feel now. No longer versatile or ninja-y as they felt in the past.

    • When I hit a cabal with an attachable grenade I would expect it to kill him not need to also shoot him and movement speed is way too slow

      • So you can spam golden gun. Haven't tried the other subclass but golden gun is fine. You can get up to six shots with it and take out most captains. I got a captain and a cabal in the story with 4 shots. That's fine really. They will probably throw exotic gear to buff damage but drop the shots for PvE in the full game anyway.

      • Ability and super charge rates and effectiveness are very concerning.

      • The only abilities that are really bothering me are the Hunter class ability, how the arcstrider super moves, and the warlock glide: They should add to the Hunter dodge, like the reload dodge can give you and nearby allies weapon damage and handling buff for 5 secs; the melee dodge can turn you invisible and increase movement speed for 5 secs. I noticed the arcstrider super attacks don't cover much ground(unlike Bladedancer lunge... Or blink) and because of all the acrobatic flips it feels like you're wasting time, in PVE it doesn't matter much because your attacks make a full circle so you can kill adds fast but in PVP its easy for people to turn and run or fly over you. Not much to say, the warlock glide just feels sluggish.

      • Seconded. Not being able to 1-shot Harpy's as a Gunslinger just seem's wrong. I'd rather have 3 more powerful shots than have to shoot something twice. Hunter's dodge is also pretty lack-luster.

        • Just came to say that there is a misspelling in the Titan trample ability. Killing is misspelled.

        • I understand that the Beta is an older version and the current version of the game has already been tweaked and maybe I just didn't see a comment by the devs regarding this, but you guys are going to boost the recharge times for supers and abilities in PvE right? ( sorry for the run-on sentence). I get the changes in PvP, I may not like them, but I understand. On the PvE side of things though, it makes things kinda "blah". All of the high tier enemies are just bullet sponges that take forever to kill and we don't ever get to feel powerful. Now, maybe this is on purpose, and things change once we "regain our light" or something like that. Addressing this would help us all feel a little less anxious.         • Agreed, it seems like most of the abilities along with the slower cool downs were designed for PvP and not PvE.

        • Really? A lot of the grenades feel a lot better to me in D2. Looking at you Arc Bolt and Pulse grenades.

            • Even though a beta, Bungie should have had it closer to the proper levels. I agree - weapons are way to weak. The new supers are good but don't last long enough. And really slow to charge. It is only an opinion but Bungie really pushed for a PVP game. We can only hope the changes after the beta makes for a better game. IF Bungie makes any large changes.

            • One Golden Gun shot wasn't enough to kill a red bar cabal. Utter trash. These supers and abilities are too weak. I might actually drop this franchise for good because I havr been giving Bungie too many chances to get it right. Its frustrating at this point.

              • Arcstrider is terrible. Pressing the action but causes him to dance in place instead of striding towards enemies. The hunter also runs slooow when trying to stride an enemy when super is active. FIX THIS BUNGIE!

              • Everyone is so STUPID!!!! In destiny 1 they all cried there's to many ability spammers in pvp. And now the beta is out and all those cry baby noobs are like I CANTH GETTH A FREAKINTH KILL.... you know why because they have no gun skill and they relied on abilities to get kills in D1. Don't you see they gave us what we wanted and now you all complain. Wow and they said we had a good community in destiny when really the community is the ones who make the game worse

                • I kinda agree, I think the kinetic/energy/power weapon system will be better once everyone gets used to it. However, the drop rate for power ammo in pve definitely needs to be improved like 200%. The ability cooldowns in pve definitely need to be faster. In pvp, I would decrease the cooldowns of the grenades. As far as weapons are concerned, sniper rifles shouldn't even be considered power, considering it takes a tremendous amount of skill to get those headshots in pvp, and if you die well you lose your sniper ammo so it is a waste of a weapon slot. One more thing about weapons, Bungie you need to implement perk rolls again, or have mods mess with the way perks work, or the weapon grind for destiny will be finished very quickly.

                • I definitely think there should be a line between pvp and pve in D2. Abilities are all pretty underwhelming in pve, especially when they take like a minute to come back and the striker titan is the only one that gets an extra grenade. I think if nothing else that as the Hunter's dodge class ability is solely for personal use and serves no team advantage it could use a shorter cool down (so could the rest of the abilities tbh). I think either the damage of abilities needs to go up, or the cool downs need to be reduced so that we can have more of them more often. I love the weapon system for D2 although I think we could do with some extremely high impact scout rifles that are very nearly snipers, something that can one shot headshot a cabal but take two or so kill in pvp. And possibly a very close quarters primary like a sawn off shotgun or even a double barrelled hand cannon that has nearly no range but can kill a bigger enemy in one shot at the same time it could have no reload speed making it less desirable for pvp. Either that or we get a lot more power ammo in pve, to make things flow a bit better.

                • Personally, I think the hunters is the only weak one. The titans shield can save lives, and the warlocks healing rift is strong enough to bring me back from the brink.

                    I agree about the scatter grenades they definitely don't have a kick to them, even when you do that cool charging thing with them. It seems weak in pve and pvp and I play both. The recharge rates aren't even bad, in my opinion it brings a little more to the shooter aspect of this game so we can't just all ability spam. And I think a lot of things are weak in pve because they're scaling it back on us. We've been spoiled by godhood in D1 and honestly it makes the game kind of boring when you can just disintegrate every room encounter. Keep at it, I'm sure they'll make the tweaks where necessary but you're gonna have to learn to adjust to the new system as a whole. Get back to the guns and be smart about your ability use

                  • agreed, everything takes too long to recharge. i spammed all six golden gun shots at the inverted spire boss and it only tickled him.
