Yes it is. It has online play in a pve setting (mmo) and you get to pick and customize a character and how you play the game. (rpg) it may not be a full in mmo or rpg, but it has elements of both.
English
-
MMO actually refers to the number of people in a zone at one time, not the number of people who own the game... If you consistently saw 8 other guardians in a zone with you, MMO. If you only ever see more than one guardian in the tower, and nowhere else, it's not an MMO.
-
I see that someone has never played patrol ever.
-
Oh yea, that one week window when everyone was trying to do a public event to get the SS I saw 5 or 6 other people. Beyond that you see maybe 1 full fireteam passing you by as the head to the strikes darkness zones...
-
I never said it had to do with how many people owned the game.
-
It has elements of an RPG but the "holy trinity" isn't one of them. It's been 3 years man, you didn't notice titans don't exactly have any type of taunt ability? You know why? Because it's not a tank class. Just like there's no really healing class or damage class. You just said it, pick a character and play it how you want.
-
Yes but they are clearly moving closer towards a more rpg style game for pve and I think warlocks need to move with that change.
-
I think you're trying too hard to fit these things into what YOU think the game is. If you made a Hunter for the sole reason of believing you're DPS, that's your thinking and reasoning.
-
Then what is the purpose of the classes if not to differentiate playstyles?
-
Because a game with 3 "classes" sells better?
-
What does this have to do with anything. I never said the game would sell better with 3 classes
-
I am... You asked why they would even have different classes if it wasn't actually an MMO. I told you why, money....
-
That makes no sense. Having 3 classes has no effect on how many people purchase the game.
-
Editado por w3rdblader: 7/18/2017 12:27:30 PMPretty sure most people padded their playtime hours by 3x ONLY because there were 3 classes... I know a lot of people who would have never bought an expansion if there wasn't the "variety" of 3 classes... Hell, I made my 2 subs ONLY because I was bored af with my one character and the weekly reset locks blocking me from content....
-
That's play time, not sales
-
Again, I wouldn't have bought the first expansion if I hadn't created my other 2 classes, there are 3 classes because there would have been total content burn out without the extra "variety" of armor sets and ability to loophole the weekly limits... You can't legitimately argue your point and not consider yourself a blind fanboy
-
Then you are an anomaly. Doing the same shit 3 times isnt variety, it's repetition. I know that a lot of destiny's content was just repetition, but the fact remains that playing the story 3 times over on separate characters isn't variety.
-
So are you acknowledging that there is no difference between the classes? Or are you acknowledging part of my argument because you can use it to try and make your point, but you ignore the other part of it? You can't really make your last comment if there really is a variety in classes like you originally stated...
-
Yes there is a variety in classes, in how you experience the game, but playing 3 different classes cannot change the content drastically. Those 2 statements are not contradictory. I was also talking more about class roles in raids.
-
Because each have their own strengths and weaknesses. There are different play styles for each class, they just don't fit into a traditional MMO setup. A Titan can't sit there and Aggro a raid boss and soak up damage. Look at the mechanics of the raid bosses, they just aren't designed to be fought using a regular MMO setup and there's nothing wrong with that. I did the hardcore raiding thing for years, if that's what you're looking for in Destiny I think you're going to be disappointed. Also don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I wouldn't like a bit more of an expanded MMO type change to destiny. Especially with the economy and trading and things like that. I miss it, I just don't think that's what their intentions are with this game. Either way, Destiny 2 looks good, I'm looking forward to trying it out today and hope you enjoy it today!
-
Actually I'm on Xbox lol 😭. But even though the classes don't fit perfectly into those typical mmo roles they still sort of did. Sure titans can't tank boss damage, but they can still protect their team with bubbles and gain more health through over shields. Hunters cant single handily take out bosses but they can sure as hell put a chunk in their health with golden gun. The only one that doesn't fit is warlocks, they don't heal the team or boost their damage with any of their subclasses, not in D2 anyway.
-
And what makes you think that they are clearly moving in that direction?
-
Editado por zSwabee: 7/18/2017 10:29:12 AMThey added class abilities to put the classes into their respective roles. And pvp seems to be more team based.
