Destiny has a larger player base after 3 years than most do on release, so he has no idea what he's talking about, plus he says destiny is for kids, I am 38 and pretty much everyone I play with is over 35, has kids/married/jobs, destiny is fun what ever age you are, u can pick up and play for a few mins or go in all out for a raid for hrs. Dude you have over 156 DAYS of play ! And you listening to this rubbish ! Get an opinion of ya own !

Sorry, disagree. This is what I would call the "Typical Toxic content creator." Someone who's business model is based on our human tendency to pay closer attention to things that are negative, and things that tend to confirm what we already believe is true (confirmation bias). 1. His tone is hostile....which I find fatiguing. 2. His attitude is one of "My opinions define Reality." IOW, he swings around subjective value judgements as if they were objective facts without any sort of evidence to back his assertions, and take that attitude that anyone who disagrees with him is either wrong, or has something wrong with them. 3. Particularly annoying was is "adult themes" argument. "Adult themes" aren't just bloodly gory, or sexually explicit themes that freak out the parents of young Children. Shows like Star Trek and Babylon 5 explored HIGHLY complex philosophical (mature) themes without having to resort to the tawdry. In the Grimoire, Destiny is laying the ground work to explore similar themes....but had to contend with an audience that was unwilling work to assist in that process. If he looks at Destiny and only sees a "children's game"...then its because that was the only level HE was able to engage it on. There is NOTHING childish about the tale told by the Books of Sorrow. But I'm betting Mr. "I've Got This" probably doesn't even know what those are..... Bottom like, this was like listening to a college freshman essay of someone still carrying around the arrogance of adolescence. That teenage belief that "I know everything....or at least everything worth knowing." When the truth is that they are still so inexperienced at life, that they are not only still wet behind the ears..... ...they still friggin' squeak. At home, I'd watch a video like this until my teeth started to hurt....then I'd turn it off and go on to something else. Because I realize that I'm dealing with someone who isn't interested in any exchange of ideas or in being a fair critic. Only issue is whether I'd downvote the video before turning it off.

    • This guy must be fun at parties. In case you don't want to waste 7 minutes of your own life, here's the 5 reasons: #1 It's a children's game..... #2 Bungie is an Overly Corporatized vulture..... #3 Excesive hype and fanboyism..... #4 Behind the scenes turmoil..... #5 Too Much game design carried over from D1..... It sounds like he spent a couple days in these forums for his research.

      • His fears may be warranted, but this video is a pile of crap. Sure, some of the things he fears could happen. He's also part of the problem. "My comments should go unchallenged." Seriously? The arrogance of someone like that....WOW. When you put your views out there, purport them as fact, and then say they can't be challenged, you go from having/starting a discussion to being just like every other petulant child out there. "This is how I feel and I don't care how you feel cause I'm right and you're a fanboy if you disagree." If I wanted that, I hear CoD spits out a game every year. So sad that we can't have people make actual points and NOT act like a 12 year old in the process. I just can't wrap my head around how close-minded you have to be to think this way. I can't disagree with how you view the game without being a fanboy, bungie-defender. That's laughable at best. Shit's weak.

        • Sorry, just another YouTuber railing on like an entitled child. I mean, this went far beyond offering criticism. There was no objectivity to it at all. I especially liked the part where he builds the case his comments should remain unchallenged because "big companies don't need defending". Guess that means anyone disagreeing with him is a corporate lackey. Way to foster healthy discussion. I've been as critical of Bungie as anyone could over the years. I've alternately been labeled a fanboy and a hater, because I do try to see both sides of an issue. I didn't see controlled thought in this fellow - I saw barely controlled rage. It seems to me he's burned out. Admitting he was a fanboy for two years yet has now turned strongly anti-Bungie was a surreal moment. This game was so horrible he got two years of enjoyment out of it before he burned out. How terrible.

I'll respect his effort. I've never done video essays and I can respect those who put in the effort to record footage/audio and compile them together. I'll respect that. I won't respect his blatant disregard of using subjective complaints and comments to drive his views. This video is just basic textbook pandering and click-bait. Purely meant to rile audiences and stir emotions. It certainly worked for me. I won't respect the fact that his first main complaint that he starts out the gate with is a subjective criticism of the game and franchises rating. He doesn't like that it isn't rated M? He doesn't like that it is marketed to younger audiences and not "big tough adults"? How incredibly selfish does one have to be in order to find that the target audience is a big enough flaw in a product for it to fail? This is a case of putting ones own desires and wants ahead of criticism and objective complaint. I want heavy metal violence and blood/gore, so I play DOOM (2016). I want a more complex narrative so I played Final Fantasy 15 (yes the plot was no FF6, but it was enjoyable). I want a more tense, atmospheric thriller so I play Alien: Isolation. I don't put Destiny in and then immediately complain that it isn't pandering to what I want, I put it in because it offers things I want. Simple gunplay and easy to pop-into activities. Enjoyable game environment. On a secondary level, I may even find more adult themes within the games grimoire and background. It isn't working itself to what I want, I work myself to find what I want. Don't twist a consumer fault into a supplier fault. His second complaint is about corporate marketing and the use of third-party advertisements to further market and sell the product. A huge glaring flaw in this persons critique is the fact that he is blissfully unaware of the fact that marketing and advertisements are handled by the publisher Activision, not Bungie. * "Rampant Fanboyism". Keep in mind this person openly admitted to deriving his channel from this game. I just played the game for three years and made some comments on a social-forum. He created an entire YouTube channel devoted to it. Who is the bigger "fanboy" in this situation? Is this a case of blatant hypocrisy? Should I be taking him seriously at all now? His third complaint is where he lost me. I was holding out on him and hoping that he would gather some sense before the end, but when a person easily name-calls and blatantly insults other people to drive a point is when they have lost any respect from me in a field of criticism and critique. It doesn't matter what kind of point you are trying to make. You don't resort to insults and name-calling. This only shows that you are incapable of representing the opposing party in any light beyond negative, which shows that you have put zero thought into what the other party is in fact representing or talking about. The game is a product and people will offer feedback based on that product and where it is headed. The community managers even incite feedback whenever new updates are released. You can't fault the audience for wishing better upon something they are passionate about. It's negative and doesn't build anything. His last point is completely off the rails. Critiquing a product that isn't even available yet. For shame random channel person, for shame. You could have been better than this, but you let emotions and passions drive the point and not objectivity.

              • Lol this guy and his apostles again. This guy has prolly put more time and money into destiny than many ppl on this site. He is buying D2 and the DLCs, 100% guarantee. He is a sellout and a spoiled crybaby who got told that his opinion mattered. If I sound like I'm taking this personally, I'm not. But I am sick and tried of hearing this known COD and Destiny player tell everyone else what to do with their money, then claim it as 'defending consumers.' For people not familiar this guy has been conveniently releasing smear vids on Destiny only when it's trending since 2014. Yet he puts time and money into the game and will continue to.

                  • Why is it so hard for people to simply say "I disagree, and here's why..."? Instead, BDobbins' opinions must be reflective of some sort of bias, anger, resentment, lack of intellect, attention seeking...? It really seems like Destiny fans are feeling pretty insecure about the upcoming launch the way they lash-out at D2's detractors.

I watched this video before it was posted here, and while I respect the mans intelligence, there are some problems with his analysis. First of all it works both ways. For every person taking heat for being a Destiny basher, there are two more taking heat for being a Destiny defender. Not an apologist, a defender. Secondly, the basis for his entire argument is predicated on the idea that Destiny 1 is a '' Bad game.'' Well we know that it isn't. Yes it had problems and still does, yes it was mired in workplace issues, and yes in many ways it's still a work in progress. However, you don't maintain a player population for three years that is consistent, with a bad game. And there is clearly some denial going on in this regard when it comes to debating objectively the title that is and was Destiny 1. It did a lot of things wrong, but if we are all going to be, and this includes Mr. B, intellectually honest about this, then we all have to admit it also did a lot of things right. And lastly, I find it a little insulting to suggest that people whom enjoy this game do so because they are simpletons that can't be bothered to have their minds taxed with unneeded, micromanaging filler. This argument, and I have heard it from a lot of people, is narrowminded and stupid. Games mean many different things to many different people. There are some sharp people that play this game, because intelligent people also understand the value of simplicity and nuance. It's not always about X's and O's. There are titles on the market that can be mentally taxing and challenging, that doesn't mean they all have to be. What games need to be, at the end of the day, is fun. Those are the key points I wanted to address from his rant. And my only hope is that when anyone listens to anybody, they apply their own logic and try to reach the basic conclusions common sense provides us all with. And in this instance, common sense proves Mr. B wrong.

                          • Yep, that about sums it up. I'll be playing the open beta when I can, but I think it's just going to confirm my per-concieved impressions of the game based on all the information that has trickled down since the reveal. It seems like D2 is going to be a shadow of itself. It'll feature more and larger hamster wheels, but less loadout/class customization and less incentive overall to repeatedly run on those hamster wheels. It's sad. I've actually given more thought to buying RoI whenever the price goes down to an appropriate price level ($5-10) than I have D2. Because D2 just doesn't provide enough of what I liked about the original game to keep me interested.

I must respectfully disagree. I realize D1 is far from perfect but show me a game that is. I realize that some of the D1 hate comes form a place of entitlement: "I paid damn good money for this it better be everything I expect or I'm going to crucify the developer!" We're all flawed humans and even with all the time Bungie has had for development it's still possible to fall short of the hype. In most cases it's hard to live up to hype either on the personal level or the corporate. What would be considered the gold standard for gaming? Halo? WOW? CoD? Are those games flawless? Nope. Surprisingly they have some of the same shortcomings as D1. Too much grind, too little content, etc. Admittedly I have not played WOW (read player comments) but I have played some versions of CoD and every version of Halo. I've also played Star Wars Galaxies and Star Wars the Old Republic. They all had issues with long grinds or too little content. I'm not saying he doesn't have some valid points but what expectations are realistic and which ones aren't? Do we hold D1 and D2 to a level of scrutiny that no game has been able to stand up to and say that when it doesn't, which most likely it won't, I'm going to completely vilify the developer? Corporations lie all the time. Even good companies at best stretch the truth. Guess what? People do too. All the time. People in your life have lied to you, whether you know it or not. The world is a broken place and we can try to constantly hold it up to our idealism and rail against it's failures or we can accept it and do what we can to try and make it better in our little corner. I'm an old gamer. I've been gaming for many years. How old you ask? Well let's just say my gaming started with Pong and it was new. Maybe I have a more historical gaming perspective than most or maybe I'm less entitled than most because my parents actually lived in the post depression era. I can tell you this though: no game is ever going to live up to your expectations. Hell that goes for people too.

                              • regardless of his points he does come off as if he's the know it all type, but he proves a point I made back when I played Everquest and WOW pvp. The maturity level in Everquest pvp and WOW pvp was totally crap. It wasn't the fact the people were young it was the fact that they acted immature. One of the biggest reason i don't bother with pvp anymore. To many people that play video games in general take the game way to seriously. I play to have fun and if I don't have fun I move on. I do agree to one of his points about some players that will defend a game no matter what the company does and at times personally attack anyone that says anything bad about the game. It's blatantly obvious that he doesn't like destiny in general just by his comments. which really makes any points he's trying to make rather moot. If you are going to give your opinion on a game you need to say it's your opinion and not try to state it as facts. For me I really could care less whether anyone else likes a game or not. most people I know don't even play video games anymore. Real life keeps getting in the way.

                                    • I am going to get labelled 'fan boy' for this, but let me just say this video is built on a lot of ideas that I don't agree with. I love how people do this now days, shut down any argument against them by trying to make the other people feel wrong for having thoughts that differ from their own. I don't really defend, I state what I think, you can agree with me or not. Makes no difference to me. As an adult everything doesn't need to be edge and grimy, there are plenty of games that feel that void. There is enough crap around to cause stress and tension sometimes it's just fun to play a game were everything is obvious. I don't need to sit and think about my actions, just shoot and be shot; have a laugh. On the terms of its replay ability the game is good, yes there isn't a lot variety it's replay ability comes from it's rewards (this is something that maybe hurt by the lack of rng weapons). Also the replay ability comes in the form social aspects as well, like helping the latest friend level and gear up. I may take occasional breaks at various lengths from the game, but it's the only game I bought three years ago that I still play today, also I would say it is probably the game that I have played the most dlc from and not felt entirely disappointed in it (have you folks seen some of the DLC other games are pushing?). Honestly, nothing new in the video, same old stuff everyone has been saying since d2 was announced. I don't necessarily agree with any off it. So no respect in terms of accuracy.
