Why No Help From Rasputin In Cabal Invasion D2
It will be interesting to find out why neither the Reef nor Rasputin reacted to try and stop the Cabal's invasion of the city, like Rasputin was said to have done in the collapse during the invasion of the darkness. In those days, the Traveler was perhaps forced, either by its own initiative or because of Rasputin, to stay its ground and defend the city. But with the Traveler seemingly disabled where is Rasputin's response? And if it's true of him how some say he's the reason the Traveler stayed to defend the city during the collapse, then perhaps he will also play a part in awakening the Traveler to fight yet again. Maybe; just speculating and excited to see how they will answer these questions.

His moral programs have been altered since the Collapse. He may very well be entirely out for himself at the moment. The Reef is in no position to fight considering the majority of their fleet was wiped out and they are still spread apart.

1 RespuestaThe Reef didn't react because they're still crippled from The Taken Wars and Variks is having their spy networks work on projects totally unrelated to rebuilding the Awoken Kingdom. Rasputin didn't help because why would he? He is not on our side. He is an ally of convince at times true, but he is on his own side and has been since the Collapse. During the Collapse he overcame his morality protocols and abandoned us, deciding that the problem of the Darkness isn't a question of war, but a matter of survival. Everything he has done since is him trying to survive. He occasionally has the same enemies as us, and occasionally we help each other, but that's more because it's helps ourselves to do so and the benefits in grants the others is just a happy coincidence. Now the Cabal at here for us and for the Traveler. That doesn't matter to him as it doesn't impact his survival. More than that, not only does helping us not help him, it probably actively hurts him. The Cabal in system up to this point were scouts, and the Psion Flayers were a very real threat to him. If the scouts had threats of that caliber, it's stands to reason the Invasion Fleet has, if not more dangerous entities, and least more Flayers. It would I only hurt him to piss them off as long as the Cabal aren't bothering him.

Like most things in Destiny, Rasputin was lagging hard when Gary and Friends entered the system. By the time the stuttering stopped, the Traveler was already in shackles.

I have a feeling that, much like "The Darkness", Bungie don't really know what Rasputin is, or for or even how to make it work around the story. There's a small chance you over think Rasputin's motives. But it could just be Rasputin never got involved because he just isn't part of the story🤔...yet....

2 RespuestasWell, the first mission is called HOMECOMING and features a city under attack and guardians boarding the Cabal command ship. Possibly the first mission intro cinematic is losing the city while the progress of the first mission is to re-take it. Maybe we don't need the Traveler or Rasputin to do this? Further, it kind of looks like the Traveler is being prepared for transit and not that the Cabal are sticking around to keep the Traveler where it is. Ghaul makes a comment to the effect that we are weak and don't deserve the Traveler's light, so he is taking the Traveler. There isn't any indication that he has any desire to wipe out humans or destroy Earth, so I don't know if Rasputin would even get triggered over this (if he still cared at all).

4 RespuestasLet's answer this question for the troll posters! First of all, The Reef is in damage control. They lost their Queen, their Prince and a huge chunk of fleet. They ain't helping shit at the moment. Secondly, Rasputin was so busy trying to deal with SIVA and keeping The Traveller over The City, it never had a chance against direct interference. Psion Flayers could have snuck on and hacked the satelites, shutting them down.

Well, the reef is pretty much in turmoil after the "Death" of Mara Sov and her brother. Rasputin has shown on multiple occasions that he doesn't care for humanity, only the preservation of himself due to an override command. It's possible he has chosen not to help, as a task for us to complete without his help.

The reef isn't in position to do anything for a while and the Flayers have messed with Rasputin before. Who's to say that Rasputin hadn't or won't do(ne) anything.
