The new subclass system looks awful.
Let's make a list of what I have to gain from this and the things I have to lose from this.
Pros:
-easier to switch between builds.
-don't have to worry about optimizing your build (this is actually a bull shit argument that people make but I digress)
Cons:
- less customization
-less fun (I'll explain)
-less situational options
-no more well-rounded builds, only designated roles
-more likely to fail (again, ill explain all of this stuff)
-stuck with your options, cannot even make slight adjustments to your build.
-a loss of interaction between players
-a loss of an entire genre of YouTube videos
-a loss of a way to challenge yourself
-less overall perks
Ok so starting with the pros, they are just quality of life benefits, slightly more convenient for the lazy player. The point about you don't have to worry about optimizing your build is complete bullshit. The subclass system in D1 is not hard to wrap your head around, it's not like it's super complicated to understand that you pick the perks that you like and make them work together. What this really is, is a cop-out so that bungie doesn't have to listen to the community bitch and moan about class balance. And that's it. All I have to gain from this is I get to be a little more lazy. "Oh yay now I only have to press one button to switch builds instead of 4. Wow."
Now what we have to lose, is almost everything. We can't challenge ourselves by throwing on a shit build and seeing how we do, we can't make up our own builds that we destroy people with because they don't know how to counter it, we can't inspect some one, look at their build and go "holy shit! I'm gonna try that out!" (Which is dumb because bungie is always saying how they want more interaction between players and that sense of wonder) people can no longer make cool build videos because it's all the same. I cannot have a build and then even change one thing depending on what situation I'm in. Newsflash, there are more than 2 situations in destiny! If one perk block is just better than the other, than there is even less customization. My build is built for one situation, what if I want a build for all situations?
What about any of this new subclass system can I not do in destiny 1? My options have only decreased from destiny 1 to destiny 2 because not only are there less perks, I can't choose between them, and that's why this is a -blam!-ing travesty.
This will also change how the game plays in matches as well, in destiny 1 I had versatility, I would come in with one build, switch it if I wasn't doing good, and then switch it again if that didn't work, now it's "does this work for this situation? no, ok try the other one. Does this one work for this situation? No, ok well -blam!- you then." I have about 4-6 builds that I use per subclass on my characters regularly but because bungie is -blam!-ing awful at their job, I guess that means that I can't have fun because bungie doesn't want to deal with their community being mad at them. I mean seriously, get better at balancing by getting real playtesters so that you know what combos are op and what ones aren't, GET BETTER AT YOUR JOB
Also (final point), the argument that "people don't switch between builds that much anyway" is not only not true for a large part of the player population, it also doesn't matter, if I can already use the best build in destiny 1 and never change it, why would I take out the option to ever switch it? That makes no -blam!-ing sense.
Disclaimer: I have not played destiny 2, however, not only is this me voicing my concerns, this isn't something that needs to be playtested in order to judge, there is less shit, how is that better?

It is difficult to get angry about something I am no longer interested in... Maybe if Bungie decided to shut down the forums I would be upset, since that is the only fun thing about Destiny that remains...
-
its dumbed down as its aimed at teens to be the easiest, pulp experience for the most players. While more mature seek the depth of play, exploration, and character building that just doesn't exist in the game

2 RespuestasI just simply cannot understand how anyone can form a solid opinion without playing the entire game first. You have seen two puzzle pieces out of a 100 piece set and you think you know how the game will FEEL? How much fun it will be is subjective. Different for everyone. Again, you are basing all of this on the two or three puzzle pieces they have shown us. And you really think you can quantify your cons? All of your cons are taking them out of context. Sure, they are cons to you because you are comparing what you've seen with how D1 is. Here is a crazy idea. Just admit that you simply don't know whether or not its going to suck until you play it?

3 RespuestasIts going to change the game a lot for sure. But that's what is should be. Just focus on adapting to new strategies rather then your builds. You may find that the build is not as important with D2 Im excited to start all over honestly

It's going to change, definitely, but hopefully this drastic change improves gameplay. But we'll have to wait and see. ~TheGreatNike

I have quite a few concerns going into this upcoming beta, this topic, the shoving shotguns and fusions into the wrong catagory(IMO), and the general PvP focus with only half assed reassurances that it'll be good for PvE. With the skill tree in mind, the one thing that will allow me to give it a pass this time around is a comparison to another MMO that did something similar to a class skill tree. In WoW at one point they told everyone they were going to "slim" down the Warriors skill tree to get rid of unnecessary skills and make room for more down the road. I dont recall a lot of people being happy about it(my self included) as it felt like the warrior class was getting the "shaft" yet again, but later on down the road it actually ended up feeling like an improvement over the old skill tree. If Bungie does something similar down the road and actually adds more to the skill tree then I can give this a pass otherwise just another bad design idea.

8 Respuestasthe way I view this is more like how you are in real life, you choose a direction and you make the most out of it, you can't change your mind later because something else might be better, you make the decision and you live with it. its a different way of looking at your choices in the game as meaning ful. It also will potentially slow down players progression to fully understand the choices they make and wiat for someone else to take the plunge and see if it is the direction they want to choose as well. Different is not always bad, change is not always a detriment.

8 RespuestasUmm, besides a couple of locked perks trees for abilities. Still have 3 grenades, 3 jumps...etc. What they did remove was the perks to adjust recovery, armor, and agility. As those perks are based on armor now, I don't see the problem honestly.

3 RespuestasHas it been confirmed that this is what will be in the final game? The version which has been shown at the reveal and at E3 would have been frozen months before the events for testing to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. Bungie may have put a simplified version in the pre-release game and may be saving the complete sub-class builds for the proper release.

Bump for later

There have been a lot of people pissed about this on here. Guess you're just late to the party.

Already bought the 100 version

I'm not saying a word. Just made my decision to not preorder is all
-
I'm not pissed or happy about it because I've not played the dam game yet............
-
1 RespuestaIts quite obvious that they dont want u to have the perks without exotic armour otherwise most exotic will just be useless again that only unlocks perks you already had
-
I farted

For every current subclass, there is usually 1, maybe 2 set up that are required for it to be effective. They are doing this because they know we will eventually just create these setups ourselves, so they get this our of the way.
-
Hey Spookyzz. I agree with this unnecessary simplification of the subclasses. Wish it had a bit more depth but oh well. I'll see how it plays out in the game. Might not even be that big of a deal. But we'll see. Bump.

12 RespuestasBecause I actually have a life and enjoy games for being games.
-
6 RespuestasBecause we're not nerds
-
4 RespuestasHow can i be pissed about something i have yet to play and experience? Getting pissed about things which can and will change is a bad way to live .
-
1 RespuestaBecause your "cons" are subjective opinions.
-
6 Respuestas1. Because I haven't played Destiny 2 yet. 2. Because I don't get pissed off over video games. 3. Because I haven't played Destiny 2 yet.
-
13 RespuestasPros With the new subclasses system it's mostly likely we can get third line in DLC later
-
So true.
