The IMC does pay really well, but the only benefits they have involve seeing way too much combat to make it worthwhile for most folks. Don't expect to make too many friends either, the commanders often hire troops on as extra fodder. The Militia don't pay nearly as much, and they can't provide as much tech, but they'll offer you their support both in and out of combat. Not to mention that they also have a real sense of camaraderie when it's time to keep the rifles on the racks. There's ups and downs to working with either side, so why not pick and choose as you please?
