I have a very simple idea that could be implemented to discourage cheaters from using DOS attacks in Trails of Osiris:
For a victory against an incomplete team where one or more players were disconnected, it should still count as a win, but also count as 1/3 of a loss. This would mean that a team that used a DOS attack after three matches, their mercy would be used. After three more matches, they would record a loss on their trials passage. This would take away their incentive to use DOS attacks for easy wins, because they would still have to play two games legit when using all their boons.
Of course, this would not replace bans and restrictions, it would simply reduce the incentive to cheat by taking away the prize, or at least making it more difficult. If this were implemented, it would need to be done with some care, to make sure an honest team didn't receive the 1/3 loss when one of their opponents intentionally backed out of the match.
Edit: This is just an idea, and I'm sure there are others that would work as well. Let's try to come up with some ideas that Bungie might actually look at implementing to improve trials by reducing the incentive or actually stopping DoS attacks from happening.

2 RespuestasI think a better thing to do is just send everyone back to orbit, no win, no loss, for five minutes or so to give the kicked player a chance to rejoin, then the match continues from the most recent round, scores restored. If the player or players can't rejoin or won't, you (everyone in the match) can't play trials for an hour or so after such an occurrence. Yeah, people will abuse it still, and disconnect on purpose when losing, but neither do they get a win, and frankly, if they are willing to waste an hour+ at a time to avoid a loss, more power to them, and it will still improve trials overall as that frees up matches for people who want to play legit and fair while extremely slowing down people who currently view trials as a money-making mill where cheating gets you through cards faster and easier, which equals more money.

How to stop it? Simple: Don't play Trials. Trials is for cheaters.

8 RespuestasThe problem is a LOT of the claims (perhaps even most) aren't actually DoS attacks. Just because someone lags out of the game or otherwise got bounced doesn't mean they were a victim of any kind of flood attack. You don't know without a proper investigation.

13 RespuestasThis wouldn't work to begin with, also dos attacks are rare in trials. People just cry wolf when they get hit with lag or common network issues
-
3 RespuestasThe easiest way to beat this is to not play trials. Just saying.

7 RespuestasSo if the opponent has a bad connection and naturally DCs I get punished. So if the opponent wants to be a petty bitch and DC while losing I get punished. What a terrible idea.
