Thats not quite how product launches are planned dude. When ur code has fewer features to accomodate, you get to write code for planned features and need fewer resources to develop it and then to support it. If ur smart, you put in the hooks for expansion.
My bet is the later dlcs will expand to 6v6 and so on...just need the whinefest to push it.

Smaller code doesn't mean it easier to code, doesn't mean it's easier to maintain and definitely doesn't mean it's cheaper. Can it be, yes. I pose this question though. If they were doing it to save money, why wouldn't they just use the code from destiny 1?

Everything that has been released so far. The changes we've seen are not just minor edits and even if they did major changes it would leave whole sections of excess code which would slow the game down as you couldn't cut the extra due to dependencies. It would be both easier and more cost effective to write all new code, starting big and then optimizing as you you.
