First I'd like to mention is that I'm not pissed off or care about this whole ordeal. I don't live in Texas and don't plan on driving no 1000 miles to go see a movie at a certain theater. This whole topic was just brought up for the sake of just bringing up something up besides the usual shit post. Some of you need to de-trigger and just chill. The one thing I really don't like about the topic is that everything now days is being made to become a statement for some group or another. Entertainment should always just be there for entertainment.
-------Original post------
movie theater in Austin, Texas is doing 2 screenings of Wonder Woman for women only to show their girl power.
What are your opinions guys and gals?
Myself, I think it's absolutely ridiculous. The majority of the people who will go watch this movie will either be a group of geeks which will more likely be male or a female and male couple. I don't exactly see many women going in large groups to watch this movie. Just my thoughts though.
Dear Mr. Ameduri, I am writing to alert you that your email account has been hacked by an unfortunate and unusually hostile individual. Please remedy your account’s security right away, lest this person’s uninformed and sexist rantings give you a bad name. After all, we men have to look out for each other! Can you imagine if someone thought that you didn’t know women could serve in our combat units now without exclusion? What if someone thought you didn’t know that women invented medical syringes, life rafts, fire escapes, central and solar heating, a war-time communications system for radio-controlling torpedoes that laid the technological foundations for everything from Wi-Fi to GPS, and beer? And I hesitate to imagine how embarrassed you’d be if someone thought you were upset that a private business was realizing a business opportunity by reserving one screening this weekend for women to see a superhero movie. You and I are serious men of substance with little time for the delicate sensitivities displayed by the pitiful creature who maligned your good name and sterling character by writing that abysmal email. I trust the news that your email account has been hacked does not cause you undue alarm and wish you well in securing your account. And in the future, should your travels take you to Austin, please know that everyone is welcome here, even people like those who wrote that email whose views are an embarrassment to modernity, decency, and common sense. Yours sincerely, Steve Adler
Mayor's response to an enrage man. The Drafthouse apology.
We at the Alamo Drafthouse would like to officially apologize for our role in the end of mankind as we knew it, and the ascendant Gynocracy that followed. We didn’t know our women-only screening of Wonder Womanwould result in the overthrow of all world governments and the total subjugation of men, but in hindsight we probably should have seen it coming. The Dianas grew in number, emboldened by Teen Voguethinkpieces. Since Last Man Standinghad recently been cancelled, there was no one left to challenge their total cultural takeover, and now all cishet men have been jailed in the abandoned Curves Gyms and Carl’s Jr’s across the globe. Again, we at the Alamo Drafthouse regret this turn of events and the role we played in hastening the end of civilization. We were short sighted and didn’t realize that celebrating women for one night would have such dire consequences. Our bad.
This guys are awesome. If i live there, i would be throwing my money at them.

Fine. I just hope the next Super MAN and Bat MAN movies have a few men only viewings. After all equality right?
-
Apparently It's not going to be seen in lebannon either since gal gadot is jewish

Feminists, amirite?
-
We all know this is a one way street right?

6 RespuestasEditado por WOOKIE: 5/27/2017 9:51:18 AMI wouldn't care normally, but if it were vice versa there would literally be feminists lined up outside ripping their shirts off and screaming "PATRIARCHY" "OPPRESSION"

4 RespuestasFrom a business standpoint that choice of theirs was pretty dumb

2 RespuestasIt's lady's night.....at the movies? Well yeah! Us men will have a men's only night at the new magic mike!.......

1 RespuestaI get the feeling any groups of women that go to the girl only screening don't really care about the movie much at all. I get the impression they'd only be there for the spectacle/message that is trying to be proven. Despite having a strong female lead I wouldn't exactly call it a movie that would be popular among the female demographic.
-
So lock them in and burn the building ...............
why lord am I such a sick blam!
-
1 RespuestaPersonally, I don't really care. But there is a bit of a double standard with that, which is a bit ridiculous.
-
Is it sexist? Yes. Would feminists flip a shit if men tried something similar? Oh dear God yes. Is it worth getting upset about? Nope.
-
3 RespuestasIs it sexist? Absolutely. Is it clever marketing? Meh - sorta 50/50, but whatever. It creates publicity. Does it honestly matter? Not particularly.
-
Is that legal?
-
I got a laugh out of it. I'm not looking forward to the movie and I hate Wonder Woman as a character so it's rather amusing to me.
-
1 Respuesta"hmmmm..... How do we get a movie very few people give a shit about to sell a few more tickets? This is Texas.. no one gives a shit about Wonder Woman" "Well, sir.. we.. we can tell the women it's an empowerment film and then tell the guys they're not allowed to come. Might even make it to national news and people everywhere will be talking about it. It worked for that god awful Ghostbusters remake from last year" "Johnson.. you're a -blam!-ing genius. Crank up the popcorn machines"
-
I really like that they did this. I think it's nice.
-
2 RespuestasBut if they showed a screening of Superman or Batman to only men... all hell would break loose...
-
Think it's definitely lame, but what are you going to do to combat feminists? Let me save you the time and just tell you now: no matter what you do, you will lose. 😆
-
I'm fine with the whole girl power thing. It's the same thing as the male version of being "manly." My problem is when things like this make it seem like girls are more important. Sure, encourage girls to see this movie to remind them how strong they are, but gosh darn it I wanna see Wonder Woman to she's a badass.

Editado por The Researcher: 5/28/2017 10:03:22 PM
you can only be sexist towards women
Kek. But yeah, I doubt any women are gonna see it, nerds love their nerd stuff. However they're still gonna see it, just not there. So it's just an inconvenience, if anything. Also a f**k over for them since they'll be getting less money.
-
1 RespuestaI say "who cares"? It's not like there is only one movie theater in the U.S., let alone Austin, Texas. "But I shouldn't be inconvenienced because of some SJW blah blah blah", if you're really mad about a women-only screening of a movie then I think you got other issues to worry about. I'm just glad they're doing SOMETHING to market this movie. The marketing for WW has been terrible compared to the other DC comic movies. Especially considering this is a film led by one of the major founding members of the JL, and a woman at that.

I go to the theatre a few times a year and typically get great seats. Somehow I went to the vagina monologues. Looking around it seemed I was one of about 10 men at the production and the most visible as I was pretty front and center I remember the actress seemingly only making unrelenting eye contact me for about 20 straight minutes as she described forced female circumcision and female genital mutilation in Africa as if I personally did it or advocated it as the cultural norm. So if things are billed as women only...
they can have at it
-
this is stupid. If feminists wanted equality isn't this pretty hypocritical?
-
Editado por Pheint3d: 5/28/2017 2:44:57 PMExclusion based on gender... 2 people of 2 different trains of thought. 1 -..........Why?......... 2 - Why not? Most men are pretty passive creatures when it comes to things of this nature. (At least...I think they are.) The sad reality from my perspective though, is that it is sad that some women feel that needs to happen in the first place, and that they feel a certain way that may...to them, validate the entire thing.

2 RespuestasIt's a dc comic book movie, it's gonna suck.
