Like it's no big deal that Bungie is keeping their ancient p2p system. I don't think alot of people understand exactly what this means.
For those of you who only play PVE and think the garbage p2p system doesn't affect you, you are sadly mistaken.
All of those horrible glitches you experienced in the raids during D1, those are caused by the same p2p induced lag that everyone in Crucible has to deal with.
From HRH FURY: the link is a layman's guide to what p2p means and why it's garbage.

I understand why they are keeping ptp: 1: its possible the engine they use cant handle dedicated 2: its possible that its super expensive for the engine to upgrade to deadicated 3: dedicated has been lagy and bad in the past for other games 4: its more of a pve, focused game.

I have never experienced one of these 'horrible glitches' in my 3 years of playing this game. Also, your whining isn't going to make Bungie all of a sudden go "Oh! We better have dedicated servers!", if anything it's a business decision to cut costs by not paying for and maintaining servers.
-
1 RespuestaI have a 3 year old cousin who doesn't whine this much... Just thought I'd put that out there.
-
1 RespuestaSince I don't care about PvP, I honestly don't care. And before you say servers fix PvE problems, my connection at home CAPS at 2 down .5 up, and I don't have problems in PvE.

3 Respuestas
I like how everyone here pretends...
That they won't be buying Destiny 2.

It definitely bothers me they don't invest for this ip. I can't think of any legitimate reason they can have for not have dedicated servers. I have a preorder for now, but I'm going to wait and see what happens before I actually pick it up. Plus bioware has a destiny style game on tap for announcement just before e3

6 RespuestasI just hope it has a faster tick rate then 10.

1 RespuestaIt musn't have been cost effective, it's a business afterall, they aren't gonna do it just to troll us.
-
Question is, is it going to have the same garbage net code? You'll find better games from the 90's with better net code, and that's a fact.
-
It's not that we don"'t care it just doesn't make that big of a difference..... at least for me
-
And yet if it was DDS and it lagged on me the game wouldn't be playable due to rubberbanding. I'll stick with P2P. Did DDS on H5 and Overwatch, wasn't impressed.
-
Yh I agree dedicated is the way to go..... still going to get it though lol

1 RespuestaI like glitching (phases through wall)

So your telling me that p2p is going to continue in D2? That's lovely because this tells me my shots will still disappear into thin air when the host of the pvp match switches to someone with less than stellar internet every few minutes. This means people with crappy internet will have an unfair advantage in Trials and the cheating and carries will continue. I was really looking forward to trying Trials in D2, not going to happen now. I don't care about fps rates; not having dedicated servers and a better netcode means the people who still lag like crazy will effect MY gameplay. And that doesn't mean I want a -blam!-ing damage referee either! That just made the game even worse in D1. When someone else lags it makes my experience terrible in pvp AND pve because I'm connected to them with an umbilical cord of despair and it drives the quality of my expensive internet down. Call the wahbulance I'm irate! Lol! I'm just confused to say the least. All that money they got from everyone and the huge budget didn't really amount to much for pvp did it? This may be the last Destiny I buy. They better have improved their netcode or it will just be the same crap from D1. Everything else seemed just "ok" to me. They rehashed a ton of stuff again, and that's going to get old fast I already predict it. I mean, it is the same subclasses just rehashed a bit. What? Is there only one new subclass in D2, just like a dlc? All that time, and one new subclass each? Hopefully not! I'm realizing I may have had unrealistic expectations to think Bungie could handle the complexities of a game like Destiny, even with help from the outside.

4 RespuestasHere is why this P2P system substantially hurts both PvE and PvP gameplay. P2P is not industry standard for FPS MMOs https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/227233368/0/0

6 RespuestasD2 is garbage. Bungie is useless. Boom, there you go. You can thank me later for this revelation.

5 RespuestasP2p? What is this?

Sad thing is you wish you could be a fan boy don't you?

I'm more sad about just being 4v4 pvp

3 RespuestasThere are 2 major problems we have confirmed with D2 Destiny 2 known issues: * P2P Connections * 30 FPS (console) If the largest complaints with Destiny 1 had much to do will performance then I don't think you would have seen these issues in Destiny 2. The problem is that Destiny 1 missed the mark on quite a few more important issues. Destiny 1 known issues: * World was not open -- Putting you back into Orbit again and again. -- Be careful where you go, Bungie may kill you for being “off map”. * Story was a disaster -- Characters lacked personally -- Actions had very little meaning -- Not enough time to explain all of these issues * Constant balance Issues -- PVP in constant turmoil -- Weapon type usefulness frequently dropping into the toilet or rocketing into the heavens * Fireteam connection issues -- P2P connections unreliable -- No fireteam voice chat at launch -- Error codes, Blackbird/Chipmunk/Lime/Marionberry.... do i need to go on? * General Quality issues -- Vault Space -- 30 FPS -- No scalable field of view -- Lots of post patch glitches/issues -- Countless raid cheeses I could add more but if you are still reading you must be wondering what is the point. Well; My point is that it appears Destiny 2 is addressing a LOT of the issues from Destiny 1. In the grad scheme of things I don't see P2P connections as a top tier issue. Cross your figures that they don't make as many mistakes in Destiny 2. Then maybe frame rate and P2P connections will be a featured issue when Destiny 3 drops.

7 RespuestasEditado por B: 5/22/2017 5:12:56 PMDedicated servers are expensive especially if the whole game runs online pve and pvp. They didn't see it a good investment, as simple as that. They won't magically decide to implement it because 100k out of 1 million players want it. Best way to protest is by not buying the game. Dedicated servers cost approximately 150k$/year for every 10k players doing activities. Currently there are 200k pvp players and 400k pve players on average. 600k players = 9 million dollars per year. At the start of destiny 2 at least 2 million players will be online per day, that means bungie needs to pay 2.5 million dollars per month to keep servers running. Not a good investment.

12 RespuestasEditado por rocademiks: 5/23/2017 11:09:44 AMIt's going to cost bungie around $9 Million dollars a year to keep dedis running. Around $3 million a month when the game first launches and has a shite ton of people trying to connect and play. Please let this figures sink in now. Unless the players are down to pay for that ( which none are ) then shut the hell up and stop complaining. Everyone cries about DLC prices, well if we get dedis then all of that will go up. Or even better, bungie charges a subscription for the game. So many cry and complain but don't do their research on how much this costs. $9 million a year is a lot of money. So unless YOU, the bitch boy complainer has $9 million to throw at them yearly or have dedis laying around in the basement, I suggest you either shut it or simply go play another game. If it wasn't for Activision putting money up for this game, destiny 1 would have died out Now you're all wanting them to pay up $ 9 million a year because you have a shite connection. Yeah okay lol
-
Lol I read through most half of this thinking you were upset about eververse P2P= pay to play I what I was reading in my head haha, runescape terminology still stuck in my head from so long ago
-
It will be alright they nerfed player count so netcode can handle itself better =/

5 RespuestasEver since I got better internet I haven't seen 1 error code relating to connection. This does affect me when people on other teams are lagging in trials and pvp, but it's not hard to control out of that area. Plus 1 out the 6 players normally won't ruin your experience in the crucible.
