[b]Amber left the cockpit shortly after the escape, and rather than sharing the same joyous look of most, she kept a straight face as she walked towards the back of the ship. She flashed smiles at those who greeted her, but soon returned to the same state afterwards. Eventually, she reached a rather calm room, though none were empty. She leaned against a wall, and propped a notepad against her legs.[/b]

[i]A man in a suit of armor walked into the room, as he was checking his assault rifle. Both the design of the gun and armor didn't look like it was designed from the Concordat, so he must have come from another place. The marine settled in a corner as he was inspecting his weapon.[/i]

[b]She acknowledged and observed him for a few moments, but ultimately went back to the notepad.[/b]

[i]The N.O.V.A captain then went to adjusting his sights, checking if the red dot was on point with the trajectory of the bullets. The safety was on in case if it misfired, and he sweeped the room to calibrate it. He passed Amber once or twice with his rifle.[/i]

[b]After the second pass of the laser, she stared him dead in the face, waiting for his glance to meet her stare.[/b]

"No, I'm just not partial to having glowy red dots on me is all."

[b][i]She noticed a man lying on crates, not likely asleep. He looked like a normal person from what you could see of him, two revolvers on his hips, and a rifle leaning against him, very decorated and old looking [/i][/b]

[b]She silently admired the rifle for a bit, then returned to her drawing. After a bit more time, she sneezed.[/b]

[b][i]She noticed him beginning to stir, though it seemed to just be coincidence. His hand rested on his gun as if muscle memory.[/i][/b]

[b]Enjoying the silence, she had no reason to wake him up. She simply continued to focus on her own activity.[/b]

[b][i]After a bit, he awakened, lifting the hat off his head as he looked around, seeing the woman. He took a guess, assuming she was drawing or such.[/i][/b] "Generally you ask someone to model for you." [b][i]He says jokingly [/i][/b]

"Usually, but you just looked so cozy..." [b]She said with a smile.[/b] "I'm Amber, by the way."

"Whest, James Whest." [b][i]He says grinning a bit, not moving.[/i][/b]

"Distant relative of the Bonds? Or just an admirer?"

"Unfortunately, only an admirer." [b][i]He says laughing a bit.[/i][/b]

"Where are you headed? You know, now that we're out?"

"Back to my job most likely, which will take me wherever the rats are big if you understand."

"What's your priority? The rats or the coins?"

"The rats. Spent most of my childhood doing what we just had been because of them. So, I became a freelance lawman."

"Sounds like your views are aligned with those of the Concordat. For the time being, anyway."

"Difference is I don't just go after slavers. Any criminals. Sure, the common thief doesn't need to die, but they need to be taught a lesson."

"I'd argue the Concordat want the same, but... resource management and all that. When there are murdering slavers running amok, the candy-bar thieves usually go unnoticed."

"Yeah. There are redeemable ones, but they are few between. What about you? What's your plan?"

[b]She broke eye contact.[/b] "I... uh... don't really know yet."

"Well, you gotta have some skills. You a good shot? Or maybe good with machines? Or good in bed?" [b][i]He says, the last one emphasizes to be an obvious joke[/i][/b]
