Bungie's biggest mistake: they did not separate PvE and PvP

In December of 2014, the Truth rocket got its magazine increased from 1 to 3 so that it could be competitive in PvE, but in February this year it got its magazine nerfed from 3 to 1 because it was used to much in PvP. This is the root of all the balance problems in Destiny. It's the reason why the six original subclasses sucked, to make them balanced Bungie made them as weak as possible. Bungie's idea of a "consistent gameplay experience" ruined the game. They're insistence that Destiny have competitive PvP activities like Iron Banner and Trials has only made it worse as the 99% of PvE players are forced change their gameplay because the top 1% of players abused an ability or weapon. My advice to Bungie is this: DON"T CONTINUE YOUR FAILED STATUS QUO. Separate PvP and PvE.

  • The funny thing is, they do separate PvP and PvE. Effects based on non-guardian kills to prevent balance issues, Shotgun tweaks in damage, etc. They just have a unified body of gear with consistent handling, ammo, zoom, etc. The Damage numbers are balanced completely separately as they have demonstrated multiple times in patches. They have also shown the ability to roll back specific changes. What you have to understand is that any change that may have been made based on PvP was only made with the intention that it impact PvE. PvP isn't ruining your PvE. Bungie would have nerfed Black Hammer, Gjallerhorn, and many more anyway. All the weapon types are viable in various PvE activities. All the sub classes too. Every class has a awkward sub class (blade dancer, voidwalker, sunbreaker) that a devote niche love, and one easier PvE and one easier PvP, but even now there are a good number of builds and the roles are getting less strict. I guess what I'm trying to say is... You're wrong.
