Do people realize he hasn't said anything islamaphobic? He addresses it as radical Islam which is completely different from normal islam. if anyone is being racist it's the people who are saying he's being islamaphobic, given for someone to believe their accusation, one must assume he or she is associating Islam to the President's remarks.
dont get me wrong, the guy has said racist things before, just not what you're talking about. He's also still an appalling person.
"He or his close advisors may have said". Gorka and Bannon especially. Trump's temporary travel ban, especially the first, can be considered "Islamaphobic" due to its discrimination against Muslims from the countries involved.

The countries involved had high levels of ISIS activity and/or support. He's treating radical Islam as a pandemic. We did the same thing with leprosy.

I'm not saying its right to label him Islamophobic, but I think people worry he lends ISIS an air of legitimacy by referring to them as "Islamic". Note that Obama refused to link that word to them, and media reports often prefix them with "So-called". I dont think thats down to attempted denial of what they lay claim to, thats well known in any case. I think its more that some people just dont want to afford them even the slightest shred of credibility. Again, I'm not saying he is Islamophobic, nor am I justifying anyone who labels him as such.
