Exotic elemental primaries

Personally i would have prefered that the system was not changed, but the change that you went with made sure to spereate pvp and pve balancing, great on ya This a good idea up for the elemental primary system. Adept versions and regular verision are a perfect way to balance pvp builds while still reintroducing elemental primaries. An exotic needs to outperform a legend counterpart in some way, or just have something that gives a particular advantage. And technically, they arent wrong in beleiving that guns like fatebringer are powerful and unique In pve, many of the elemental primaries, especially the earlier ones, felt very strong and really were statisfying to use Now that we have the option to get that advantage via exotic slot, or use that same weapon without that advantage while still keeping a very powerful perk set, there will be a great deal of tradeoff. I would have prefered being all poweful, but this ising a bad idea. there will be a version you can use for pvp while still having room for say..... truth, or trespasser. Great job with reworking this idea bungie. While i believe the old way was better, at least you put consideration into this one and made sure to consider the pvp and pve seperation Edit: some have brought up that elemental burn is not always enough. One thing they could do is make additions to the exotic Verisions. Extra perks, better perks. Hell maybe even character buffs. Like maybe a fatebringer that gives melee speed. If you have a chance to see this edit, how would you feel if they added more to the adepts?

  • I don't understand what you are calling the pvp /pve separation. Elemental does not affect pvp at all. This change was really not needed this close to the end of the game, just another way for Bungie to give you what you ask for while still screwing you over. It won't matter for most content as exotic heavy is the only exotic worth using now. Strike design has made icebreaker a pvp only weapon and spindle is useless on anything but a stationary target. Any other exotic special is a waste of time usually.

    • So there will be 2 versions of the raid weapons? The adept will have the burns and will be exotics. The regular will have no burns but will they keep their perks? I didn't catch the stream so I'm trying to understand. I hope that ALL raid weapons keep their perks.

    • See and I feel that they did way too much unnecessary work making two versions of the same gun, and just having the elemental burn the determining factor of exotic status or not. The Element does not warrant exotic status by any means. All they had to do was bump the light level on the old one. That's literally it. But they couldn't even manage to do that correctly. *sigh* I'm going to have to also disagree with the raid primaries feeling exotic, because they really didn't. Most of them are pretty trashy in my opinion, and now you've essentially made it into a dilemma here. By making them exotic, you made them take over the exotic primary slot. So now if they get "overused" you will use this to warrant why D2 doesn't have primaries with elements. I just see this turning on us in a negative way. For me, I'll use the no burn VoC over the exotic version. It just means to me that the perks were amazing on the weapon, and that's why I chose to use it. Not the niche element that has barely any use outside a specific elemental nightfall that people made way to big a fn deal over.

    • [i]I have to disagree here[/i][spoiler][i]maybe if this thing will let me type[/i][/spoiler][i]I like the whole raid adept weapons...but making what was legendary weapons exotic because they have burns is stupid...the reason they took the burns off legendary weapons was to increase diversity...and by doing what they are doing now they are now murdering diversity...solar burn? Use exotic voc....arc? Use exotic fatebringer....you see the point...[/i]

      • I'm ok with this as long outbreak prime deals void damage and vex mythoclast have more reserve ammo. Let's be real an exotic solar VoC is 100 times better than the vex mythoclast.....The mythoclast needs more ammo in pve

          • The old VoG and CE weapons aren't as good as stuff we can get now, so they should have kept their element. Why on earth would I use Vision of Confluence or Fang of Ir Yut when I still have the old vendor Hung Jury? I have better Hand Cannons than Fatebringer and Word of Crota, especially since Fatebringer doesn't have a Range perk and WoC has poor base Range. I have a Clever Dragon and The Waltz that are both better than Praedyth's Timepiece and Oversoul Edict, even after the nerf. Doctrine of Passing, Soulstealer's Claw, and Arminius can blow Atheon's Epilogue out of the water and Abyss Defiant has bad perks and is outclassed by Suros Auto Rifles, The Continental, the Extremophile, and Genesis Chain. If they kept their elements, then the legendary versions would be used for more than just sentimental value. The armor looks amazing though and I want almost all of it.

          • I'm sorry Orpheus but I'm going to have to disagree. This change made already weak and underused exotic primaries even more irrelevant. Why use Hawkmoon when I can get better stats, better perks, more ammo, and an element all on a Fatebringer? Not only that but I feel that it's going to limit all exotic diversity even further than before.

            • I'm not liking the exotic thing or being tied to challenge modes. I fell like it's unfair to the majority of players. A lot of people still have trouble getting into raid groups regularly. If we had matchmaking I wouldn't care, I feel like there should be another way to get the weapons.

            • It is just going to decrease variety. If there is solar burn on the nightfall why would you ever use a heavy or special exotic. They should have gone with the elemental cores from day 1.

                I would prefer if the element stayed on legendarys But they could change the element mechanics. Example: Fatebringer....this weapon deals arc damage after a critical kill for a short time VoC: multiple critical hits grands solar damage for a short time Atheons epilogue: this weapon deals void damage when glass half full is active Word of crota: this weapon deals void damage when critical wounded Fang of ir yut: marking multiple enemys( maybe 3) grands arc damage All kings fall weapons: weapon deals elemental damage when cocoon is active( that means that we have to switch the weapons all the time to get elemental damage) They could even make so that some guns only deal elements damage when the super is full. These are just some ideas but I think that would be better than just...here have the element damage but it's exotic now. Sorry for bad English

                • To be honest this is bad thing because it makes the exotic version have to compete with the legendary version. Which I mind you has no difference except for the element. Making a weapon an exotic is a bad thing more than it is a good thing. An exotic has to compete with all exotics that includes primaries, specials, and heavies. This means they are not going to be used unless you love your fatebringer, VoC, and etc.

                  • I'll be honest, I was considering coming back when I found out elemental primaries were finally being brought back, but now? I think I'll pass and just play other games. For all my VOG runs, and I ran it a bunch just to Templar to try to get FB, I got one about 2 weeks before TTK dropped making it worthless. And now I'm expected to go through that again with the loot pool even more diluted in an attempt to get an exotic version of a gun I've already got? Nah, i'll pass. I get why people are excited and all but for me, this latest stream just made me realize that I probably won't touch Destiny again. They always do this though, they add cool stuff and get me interested only to make some idiotic decision and I go back to other games.

                          I just hope they add a kiosk for them. I'm sad that Kings Fall weapons aren't getting a stats update that'll make them useless due to missing 1 perk and having lower stats then the other raids weapons.
