What is being treated as a terrorist attack has happened outside Westminster Palace (Parliament).
Editing this in early to stop all the calls for travel bans and hate: Scotland yard have revealed the attacker to be a British national.
Around 14.40 GMT 22/3 a grey Hyundai was driven onto the pavement and down the length of Westminster Bridge before crashing next to a gate in the perimeter wall of Westminster Palace. The driver then ran into the palace gardens wielding two large knives and attacked an unarmed police officer, before being shot by armed police. Both the attacker and the officer have since died from their injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported as many as 12 dead or seriously injured lying along Westminster Bridge and several more in the River Thames. One woman has since been recovered alive though seriously injured from the water.
Police, MPs and off duty doctors rushed to help the injured before emergency services arrived, when the doctors helped paramedics and accompanied the victims to hospital.
5 people have been confirmed dead (including the officer and attacker) and 40 injured from 11 different countries, with seven reported as being in a critical condition. More details of the dead and injured can be found here.
A suspicious package was found in the back of the vehicle and Westminster Palace and nearby buildings were evacuated in small groups whilst police sweep parliament for other attackers or explosives. As of 21.00 nothing had been found and the evacuation was complete. Westminster Bridge, Westminster Station, the London Eye and a large section of the Thames were closed and remained closed as of 20.00 local time. The police cordon was extended to several square miles causing heavy traffic along the Embankment and through Chelsea.
The police cordon has since been cleared.
The attacker has been identified as Khalid Masood, 52, a British citizen of African descent. Masood has no known links to extremism, but was known to police for several offences since 1983 including Grievous Bodily Harm, possession of a bladed weapon and various public order offences. Whilst he had been investigated for extremism in the past by MI5, he was dismissed as a periphery associate at best. It was during one stint in jail that he converted to Islam. Police believe Masood was working alone.
Previous reports of Abu Izzadeen were a case of mistaken identity. The two do look similar, but Izzadeen is currently in jail.
Whilst ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, Masood is obviously not alive to defend himself and will take time for electronic forensics to confirm or deny his involvement with the terror group.
The Muslim Council of Britain and various world leaders have condemned the attack and offer their thoughts, sympathies and condolences to the people of London and everyone effected by this tragedy.
Facebook has set up a check-in for people to mark themselves safe in the aftermath of the attack.
More to follow as I receive updates.
On a personal note, I was in London just before Christmas and stood exactly where the car crashed into the wall, my brother runs a pub near by. I was too young to really appreciate the 7/7 bombings and this has really hit home. My thoughts are with the victims and the people of London today.

4 RespuestasEditado por Cerberus64: 3/24/2017 11:54:23 AMPowerful speech by Andrew Neil (political commentator/journalist) in his opening piece to camera for the BBC's This Week show (only need to watch the first 2 mins). EDIT: Transcription: Keith Palmer had been a copper for 15 years, a husband, a dad, brother, uncle, public servant. Before joining the police he’d been in the army, defending our nation; yesterday he was murdered defending our democracy; defending the very heart of our democracy from a barbarian at the gate. Just doing his duty. Reminding use of something that we badly needed reminding; that the most important people in this country are not the rich, the powerful, the famous, but those who run to confront the enemies of our civilisation while the rest of us are running away - first responders, like P.C. Palmer, brutally stabbed to death by a jumped-up jihadi not fit to breathe the same air as the man he killed. Now I know there are still some jihadi johnies out there who think they will eventually triumph because their love of death is greater than our love of life, so let me just say this to them - do you have any idea who you’re dealing with? This is the country that stood up, alone, to the might of the Luftwaffe, airforce of the greatest evil mankind has ever known. If you think we’re now going to be cowed by some pathetic Poundland terrorist in an estate car with a knife, then you’re as delusional as you are malevolent. Yes, you have the power to hurt us. Sometimes the hurt is more than we can bear. But you cannot defeat us, because for every brainwashed, braindead islamist you send to do us harm, we have thousands upon thousands of Keith Palmers. You’ll find them in every walk of life, in every part of the land, they come in all shapes, all sizes, all colours, all faiths, they are the British people and against them, you will never prevail.

1 RespuestaMy Dad works in London and was one tube stop and 10 minutes away from the 7/7 bombings and was in his office while this happened. He went to work today like usual, came back as usual. He was telling me how on 7/7 he went to work after finding out what happened, then went down to the pub with his mates to watch it all on TV with a pint. Yeah, it's sad people died and everything, and there is nothing wrong with mourning the few unfortunate people who got caught up in this mess, but in London, people will just go back to normal business the same day because shit happens. Not only that, the Terrorist did a shit job to be fair. 2/10 not even at rush hour.
wort
3 RespuestasThe main thing I take away from this is the way many bystanders and members of the public stepped in to assist and tend to the wounded when they had no way of knowing they were out of danger. No fear from Londoners. This city got through the worst Hitler and the IRA could throw at us and we came out bloodied but standing. A few twats with knives cant cow us.

2 RespuestasI was listening to CNN about it earlier and they said the suspect appeared to be Asian :/

6 RespuestasLondoner's survived more than 100 terrorist attacks by the IRA between the 70's and 2 000's alone - many much deadly than this one. As their response to the 7/7 attacks demonstrated, few can exhibit the same degree of sangfroid in the face on imminent physical threat than Londoner's. The blitz didn't break them, the IRA didn't... and neither will this new breed of nihilists.

21 RespuestasAnd the cycle begins again. 1. Terrorist attack happens. 2. Blame guns, racism, global warming literally anything but radical Islam. 3. Attack those who talk bad about radical Islam. 4. Change facebook page to country's flag in "solidarity." 5. Hold candle vigils while literally doing absolutely nothing other than virtue signaling like on facebook. 6. Push for more radicals to enter the country. 7. Patiently wait for another attack. 8. Repeat steps 1-7.
On a side note remember what the mayor said. "These attacks are just part and parcel to living in a city." So we know where he stands as an apologist.
44 RespuestasLondon is already Pakistan 2.0, the only thing it was missing was Pakistani levels of religious violence every day. Glad to see that Londoners are finally being fully culturally enriched by these doctors and engineers they've let in. The English people have been historically known for being able to go about their day after being bombed into the ground, nice to see it goes strong decades later. The First World and Western Civilization as a whole were overrated. I'm glad we're giving the Third World and religious states the opportunity to thrive here in order to replace our society bought for us on the blood of our forefathers. Isn't it ironic how French schoolchildren were the victims, no doubt there to see the wonderful sights of London and learn about the English way of life, only to get the most real taste of the current London one can. Children. There to learn about one of the once shining cities of the Western world, only to instead experience its bastardization. Like the thousands of young girls -blam!- in forced Pakistani prostitution rings in that same city, once again the children are the victims, in this entire macabre, suicidal endeavour of omniculturalism. What you give away today to the enemy you don't recognize is not given from your pockets, but the pockets of the children you chose not to have in order to be a middle manager and own three cats. Generations past handed down our society which they fought and died for in the human meat grinders of the World Wars and their precedents, and now the next generation will be handed something completely unrecognizable once we're through with it. Little by little, incident by incident, vote by vote, law by law, as demographics shift, as these things are normalized. The line is being moved, inch by inch. Each time it is moved we cry out, "The line has budged!" and those who wish to see our civilization sacrificed to their self-hatred and stupidity cry back, "But it has only moved an inch!" until the line is miles from where it began. Because this is how you destroy the building. You don't run headfirst into its walls and break your bones on its bricks, you tap tap tap tap tap at its foundation, day by day, incrementally, until it has nothing left to stand on and crumbles.
The man believed to be responsible for the attack in Westminster has been named as Khalid Masood, by the Metropolitan Police. Masood, who died in the attack, was not the subject of any current police investigations, but he had a range of previous convictions for assaults. The 52-year-old was born in Kent but was believed to have been living in the West Midlands. PC Keith Palmer, Aysha Frade and American Kurt Cochran were also killed. Police said there had been no prior intelligence about Masood's intention to carry out an attack. But he was known to the police and his previous convictions included GBH, possession of offensive weapons and public order offences. His first conviction was in November 1983 for criminal damage and his last conviction was in December 2003 for possession of a knife. He had not been convicted of any terrorism offences.
Bump

6 RespuestasEditado por Lordsa Jar-Jar: 3/23/2017 9:25:21 AMAnd all he needed was a car and a couple knives. There's nothing anyone could of done. This is a sign of events to come. They're starting to realize they don't need bombs, or guns, or any intel (which in the end, all those things tend to get them caught first) to cause terror, they can do it with the simplest of everyday items. I think we might be needing that travel ban, now.
