They removed the in air accuracy so it would do just what it is doing.
The goal being to make shotguns that are a one shot kill easier to counter.
They are still good, but you need to adjust your play style.

There are ways they can make them easier to counter without implementing RNG mechanics. Buffing primaries always seems to be a good start, but sadly, no significant buffs have really happened recently.

Easier to counter with far less consistency, or reward, with heavy risk is the very definition of imbalanced

It is, but at the same time is it inconsistent while on the ground? To me, seems consistent when used in this manner. It's just not consistant while in the air. Though I will have to add in the disclaimer that I haven't heavily tested this, just a few matches.

Yes it is. That is the #1 thing people dont see on the recieving end of shotguns, how impractical they are and inconsistent Same with handcannons, bloom was stupid and reallly got in the way, but people killed by it never saw these things happen

Well like I said, I haven't heavily tested shotgun consistency on the ground, so I will take your word for it, and say that needs to be fixed. One of the most frustrating things in this game is knowing you should have the kill, and find yourself dead, and dealt almost no damage against the guy you shot. I have had plenty of experience with that with hand cannons, and fusions.
