Hey, been a gunslinger since day 1.
NEVER place a tripmine on the floor. It's harder to get kills unless the player stands directly on top of it which hardly happens.
Try placing them on certain areas where you think the enemy will pass through. Sometimes on the floor yes but Mainly doorways/sniping spots. Places where they have to pass to charge you.
And try using your GG for heavy round. Even if you don't kill the enemy it scares them off heavy so your team can grab it.

I found ground placement for tripmines pretty useful in a few situations and helped combat those Bones of Eao hunters. However I did find more success in using them on walls. It really helped with capturing the zone at the end too.
-
Throwing them on the ground does work for those guardians who like to jump all over the place but otherwise I agree with you.
-
Not really, it's highly ineffective. Between the time you throw the tripmine, it senses movement, and detonation the running around player Has already moved past it and most likely shotgunned or sidearmed you. A tripmine sensor zone is like a cone. You can place it on the floor but the enemy can literally stand next to it and be fine. A wall placed mine covers more area and is harder to avoid.
-
For the most yes they can be ineffective but at times useful. This video is one example of throwing one on the floor. Doesn't happen all the time but map knowledge is key. Mainly I use walls, halls or low ceilings to close down lanes.
-
Your response it literally my exact same arguement. I said "Highly ineffective" not completely useless. Meaning chances of hitting their target to be low. I dont doubt a floor placed mine can hit its target but a wall placed mine has a higher chance of killing an enemy/doing damage to one.
-
I'm agreeing with what you're saying just trying to point to the OP that there are situations and options out there with tripmines. I'm just tired of players in other threads that say tripmines are utter trash after the nerf.
-
Right...by repeating what I just said in my first post. Except for whatever reason you're using it to try and make a different point. Reread what I originally said. Because you are still saying,"I agree with you, but you're wrong." And then your point is what I just said.

Then my apologies. That was not my intention.
