2 RespuestasEditado por The Cellar Door: 2/18/2017 4:01:14 PM>people actually think this way It amazes me how people still think it's the 19th century. News flash: you aren't going to stop a tyrannical government with your m9.

8 RespuestasThe second amendment literally states the right to bear arms due to the need of a militia. We don't need a militia anymore because we have a military. So that means no militia = no guns
-
Oh yeah?!? The 2nd amendment protects others? Then where was the 2nd amendment when the 4th amendment got -blam!-ing gutted by the last 2 presidents?
-
If a dude with a gun breaks into my house at night, and starts climbing the stairs to my bedroom, and I didn't have a gun, I'd feel pretty bad for my kids, my wife, and all the people who love us.

35 RespuestasCame here expecting multitudes of triggered libs. Disappointed. There are far more moderates in this thread than I expected. I'll even throw in my 2 cents. While I fully support the right to own a gun, I think it should be at least as difficult to obtain a gun as it is to obtain a driver's license, if not harder. I also support restrictions on clip size and quantity of ammunition that is purchasable at a time. You only need to pull the trigger once to effectively defend yourself

4 RespuestasGuns kill people.

3 RespuestasProtects all other amendments in a situation where a foreign country is trying to claim American soil - or there is a civil war in America, and we require an armed militia. Considering none of those things are happening atm, I think I'm good without it maybe. o<o
-
Not... not exactly

Honestly, the reason why I have guns is to protect myself from the deeply rooted radical groups that will inevitably try to take over the government. And I'm not talking about foreign terrorists.

The things you wish to protect would be the most important People keep guns in their homes to protect their family. Not the other way around It's about people, places, things worth protecting
-
4 RespuestasMost important, probably not. But it's important. Freedom of religion, speech, press, and peaceful demonstrations, imo, are a bit more important.

3 RespuestasEditado por A Spooky Reaper: 2/17/2017 2:58:07 PMAs a gun owner, this isn't true. If the government disregards the constitution, which is the only entity that even can enforce it, we'd be fuсked. Soldiers are conditioned to follow orders. We are no match for the modern military. Even if the soldiers refused to fight, which is highly unlikely, they would just bomb the shit out of the "rebels and terrorists".

3 RespuestasGuns aren't any good if no one cares to fight for their freedom. You need to protect the ideas of liberty just as much as you need to protect the physical means to secure it. Unfortunately, words on paper are very thin protection when the existence of the state establishes precedence and a framework for submitting to authority.

7 RespuestasI'm a supporter of the 2nd amendment. Even though I personally have no interest in owning a firearm, I still fully stand behind other people's right to do so. But I don't buy this whole "We need guns to protect our republic" stance that people are so wrapped up with. Guns didn't stop the Patriot Act from happening (the single largest loss of personal freedoms in US history). They didn't stop the Patriot Act from being extended under Obama. They don't stop the NSA from intruding into our personal lives... shit, need I go on? Our republic isn't going to be taken from us in one massive action. It happens through seemingly small actions throughout the course of decades. It's happening every day. And that .45 sitting on your hip has done absolutely nothing to stop it so far. You people want to save our republic? Stop fighting with each other over the dumbest shit you can come up with, stand together, and use our voices and our votes. I know.. that sounds like a bunch of wishful thinking bullshit. But it's honestly the only way we make a change. Your guns will stop nothing.
-
No, the 1st is the most important. It is the foundation of a free society. The 2nd is our insurance policy. It is a damn fine amendment though.
-
17 RespuestasNobody can deny it needs a little tweaking tho, not saying take away all guns from citizens. I just don't feel comfortable with my drunk neighbor having a gun during one of his middle of the night fits.
-
2 RespuestasIt's funny how a few people make it bad for the rest of us. My guns ain't never killed anyone. And they never will as long as they don't tread on me. 🔫🔫🔫
-
Pretty sure the first one is the most important one. What's the point of having an armory of guns if you won't be able to express yourself without being punished by death for saying something against our leader.
-
I disagree. Congrats, you have guns! But what's going to happen to you without the first amendment? Or the eighth? Or the thirteenth? Or any other important amendment? What are your guns going to do when those rights are revoked? You can't shoot your way out of that, can you? Sadly, we never ask the real questions in these debates. No matter how long we debate about these topics, we will never learn why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
-
I don't think you'll loose your rights through a military occupation.
-
The natural right to keep and bear arms is the most important right... The 2nd amendment doesn't give anyone the right to bear arms, it says the government has no authority to infringing on that natural right.

1 RespuestaFear not the weapon but the hand that holds it.

Amen brother

1 RespuestaMy most important right is my hand.
