Because the people of the United States, who's land this belongs to, says so.
If you want it different change the law.

First of all you can't just simply change the law and second I remember most of us just stole this land, sure you could make the argument that we were a dominant force, and there was no established government which of course is a misconception because there actually was an establishment of Indian tribes scattered throughout America. Technically speaking we all came to this country illegally.
-
Bullshit we didn't come to this "country" illegally because there was no country. Vast swathes of land were uninhabited and the natives were constantly warring for territory Furthermore the natives themselves came from somewhere else and the stronger tribes wiped out the weaker. If you're saying that arriving someplace first makes it yours then all of Israel certainly belongs to the Jews and the moon belongs to the American people.
-
Well, what defines a government to you?
-
I never mentioned government I mentioned country. Thank god the settlers came here and took this land can you imagine the world today without the things America has brought to it and freely shared like the Internet or mass produced vaccines or the agricultural revolution or refrigeration or all the advances in pharmaceuticals? We'd all be dead or living in third world status.

I meant country. That was a mistake on my part...
