It's called French flag waver to announce their immediate surrender when the match starts.
NOTE: The last WW1 vet was Florence Green, a British citizen who served in the Allied armed forces, and who died 4 February 2012, aged 110.
I see no reason as to why anyone on this forum would be offended by this unless they are seriously so sensitive towards a joke. Although I guess it is the internet and everyone gets offended by everything....
