Warframe: a disappointing journey

So Warframe is running a deal with PSN where you can get some free unlocks if you have PS Plus. After these many years of ignoring Warframe, I gave it a go. Indeed, it is every bit a free to play game. The Good Looks like there is in-game matchmaking for just about everything. Lots of customization. Classes have vastly different powers. Appears to be a pretty huge game. Free. The Bad Design and gameplay are subpar. Admittedly, Destiny is best in class when it comes to gun play and this is the Destiny forum so comparisons are bound to happen. If I were comparing Warframe to Borderlands 2, I'd say they play about the same. The levels are kinda' boring. Destiny has this problem too, but not as bad as Warframe. Micro-transactions for -blam!-ing everything. I picked up a bow and arrow that could take out 95% of enemy health. With the PS Plus boost, I though maybe I could unlock an upgrade that would take care of the other 5% so I could one shot enemies. I had something like 30,000 in in-game currency but it turns out I needed more platinum, which is a secondary currency. Yay, more currencies. So I couldn't buy a better bow and arrow and I was stuck with either spending real money or grinding for long enough that spending real money would be the better option. I know this is how free-to-play / pay-to-win works. It's harsh to live it first hand. Long story short, I deleted Warframe on the first day after downloading it. I know there are a lot of Warframe fans here, and I just want to let you know you are 100% wrong about this game. Update: I came across this great story about Warframe. I really do find the development of this game a compelling story. Digital Extremes is aware that the game doesn't put its best foot forward, as discussed in the article:
Another reason for Warframe’s lack of widespread interest could be its high barrier to entry. A lot of criticism has been focused on the new player experience, which Sinclair admits they prioritize less than making content for current players. “It’s kind of why the new user experience of Warframe kinda sucks,” he said, “because every update it’s like well, we have our players—what can we do to engage them now? Do I worry about the marketing that’s going to pull in the new users and that first hour that they have?” Sinclair went on to say that they “just want to make [Warframe] more interesting,” but that the strategy does make the game harder to learn.
Maybe my only suggestion for the game is to go back and optimize the early game experience.
