It's random, since coil speed is random.
4 bolts cannot hit at the same time, otherwise it won't do enough to kill. If at least 4 bolts connect after the shield goes down, it will kill. It does it with rather frequency though.
It took me 296 completions to get one.

I actually had one drop when roi came out, had everything, rifled, rangefinder, something else, but I figured that was it's set roll and having close to no room in the vault thought I could get it back at any time once the vault space fix bungie had been talking about releasing was out. Ouch dude. That is the roll I wanted, got small bore and hot swap, I can live with that. But that hurts.

Yep :/ And now whenever I go to archeons forge it's generally empty (even when I do the slow crouch walk up too it haha) Are you on xbl? Would you like to farm for it sometime? Literally no one I know still runs forge

I am on xbox. I typically try to run archon's forge at least once on the weekend. Trials takes priority now so it's less and less. It's basically a baron wasteland there now.
