2014 is the most recent year I could find stats for, from the fbi. "Assault weapon" has various definitions depending on the state. The "assault weapon" amendment brought up in 2013 was much more broad than the bill passed in 1994. Just for the sake of argument, and because the fbi does not differentiate between "rifles" and "assault rifles" in their murder stats, let's assume every rifle related murder involves an "assault rifle". To be clear "assault weapons" almost certainly must be a subset of that number, but we're just being simple.
So how many people do you think, per year in the United States, are killed with any type of rifle? From Grand Pappy's squirrel raffle to hank's ar 15?
According to the fbi, uniform crime reports, expanded data table 8...

I'm willing to bet it's a much smaller number and percentage than most of you thought.

25 RespuestasAssault weapons/rifles are banned for the sake of prevention. You would just empower another school/public shooter just so you can have a pretty rifle on display. As we see anywhere else in medical to this.. the costs of prevention will always be less.
-
"How many people are killed with assault weapons?" Not enough.
-
1 RespuestaThe term assault weapon/rifle is so worthless in terms of actually defining anything. Like putting a grip on a gun suddenly makes it inherently more deadly?
-
Don't forget guys...number one cause of gun deaths are from hand guns... -A not anti gun liberal...

Around 250, if I remember correctly.

4 RespuestasLiberals are so bad at addressing real issues. Guns are not the real problem, only a symptom. If you actually study sociology and statistics, you will find that countries with less crime have a lower income gap and equal access to healthcare. Its economic stratification that is likely the actual problem.

If I were to kill you with a rusty spoon, I have assaulted you with a weapon... therefore, an assault weapon.

3 RespuestasSounds almost like texting and driving is more dangerous
it is. Ban cell phones. And cars too
-
1 RespuestaOf course. You're more likely to be murdered by being beaten to death with fists than a rifle (like Zimmerman almost was). These proposed bans deal with a statistical non issue. Especially when most rifles don't even fall under the "assault weapon" category.
-
1 RespuestaThe term "assault weapon" doesn't even mean anything... I can turn pretty much anything into a weapon, and I can then assault someone with it.
-
11 RespuestasAnd 8 is just a number to you? I hope you're the ninth number next year so you finally see.

0.14%
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.
I mean If you assault someone with a weapon, any weapon can be considered an assault weapon.

How much do you want to bet? When would you like your winnings?? I guess 800, I was almost 600+off. It looks like there needs to be a handguns ban.
haha no that would be awful
