I'll say this: The thrill and excitement was way greater Y1, but year one struggled in many ways (anyone remember forever 29? Grindapalooza to upgrade armour and weapons? Not knowing the max light of a piece of armour/weapon until upgrading that final mode?). What Y2 did better was introduce more story elements that culminated in taking down oryx. Y1 was just "the greatest threat is the black garden! Oh boy, we managed to destroy it. Phew! No wait..let's go into this random area where there is apparently a raid. Don't know why, but it says so on my map!" That said, VoG is still my favourite raid so far. Y3 had one particular problem and that was that all of us managed to burn through all of the content so quickly.
