3 RespuestasYes. A belief system sold by an established con-man making claims that are easily verifiable and incorrect is very culty. Combine that with their requirement to pump out a bunch of kids and raise them on those same beliefs and you've got a whole group of crazy people.

No one in a cult will say yes we are a cult. Why would a Mormon even respond? Shouldn't you be converting people to the hill. Haha

It started out a cult (don't all/most religions?). Now it seems fairly mainstream like most other Christian sects, but I guess it comes down to semantics.

I think some of the mormons are silly, but generally I've come to respect every member I've met. Generally speaking, they have a strong sense of duty, great work ethic, close families, and forgiving natures. Very proud, yet humble.

14 RespuestasI'm a Mormon, so I'll share my thoughts. Disclaimer: I know more about my religion than you do. Just putting that out there now before the anti-Mormons start trying to teach me about it. A cult practices sinister acts, which is the opposite of the basic teachings of the Mormon religion. One of the most basic principles in the Mormon church is to serve others in everything you do, because by doing so you are serving God. Another principle is to love everyone like Jesus Christ did, as we all strive to become more like him. I can go on and on, but these are just a few things as to show that our religion is not a cult, but that we strive to be kind to and serve all those around us. I do apologize to anyone that feels like I just threw my religion in their face. I never speak about it unless prompted, as shown by this case we have here.

I would appreciate someone(a Mormon) giving me an explanation concerning the prophecy of David Patten. It was given as a closed date prophecy from God which failed to occur.

Was good friends with a girl in High School that used to be a Mormon. She always said it was a cult. I didn't ask too many questions.

Compared to Scientology and Jehova Witness. Mormons are no where near a cult. It's the "pushiness factor" that really makes a cult, a cult.
