Removal of SBMM would cause more problems than it fixes. Prioritization of SBMM is the safest and best system for crucible because it creates fair matches. Currently, CBMM is being prioritized by popular demand; which happens to be the wrong demand. There is still visible and recurring lag with this system. The difference is you never know whether you will have good or bad teammates or enemies because it's been completely randomized. Leave these matters to Bungie to decide instead of insisting that your idea is superior; game developers of more than a decade seem to have more experience than a player.

Sure it does...
Currently, CBMM is being prioritized by popular demand
Unfortunately, that doesn't happen. Bungie did state that they adjusted the matchmaking, but when i party up with below average friends, play solo, or party up with players who are better than me, there is still a noticeable difference when it comes to enemies skill level. The connection is also still consistently shitty because we are not matched with the best possible connection.

Interesting. On both my accounts the games were drastically varied. My average main was matched with top and bottom tier players in the same game and same goes for my alt, but there was rarely more than 2 red bars, so that's okay I guess. Any idea why it may be a different case for different people?
-
I have no idea. Time of day, playlist or in other words game mode, skill level, and player location obviously affect the size of the player pool you can be matched with.
-
So basically only cater to the lower end skill spectrum and give them less chances of laggy lobbies. So then the higher end skill spectrum has nonstop shitty lobbies ?
-
That isn't how either system works. Either SBMM where the matchmaking prioritizes equal skilled opponents and teammates or CBMM where the matchmaking prioritizes compatible connections. SBMM groups teams relatively equally whereas CBMM checks for connections first and equality later. Great players can get great teammates or crappy ones depending on how well their connection matches, which basically makes wins another set of RNG in this game. CBMM does reduce lag but at the cost of balance. Neither can be completely removed without issues, they can only be more heavily weighted. I personally support SBMM more as it has the most noticeable benefits.

They both need to be put into different playlists. I.e. ranked and unranked. What you're supporting shits on part of the playerbase that also paid the same amount of money, but you think they should have worse matches just because SBMM priorities skill over connection in a p2p based fps ? I don't get it. Maybe if you were better, you would understand why higher skilled player's get the shit end of the stick. The casual playerbase has SBMM, breaking up matches after being mercy ruled, and the end match loot isn't based on who performed the best so that casual players can get crucible gear easier. Do you guys not get it ? I seriously don't understand why you want a portion of the playerbase to get shit on when there's better ways of fixing this solution rather than just supporting SBMM. When connections are already iffy due to the game being p2p based, and then you pull from connection by SBMM ? That completely demolishes your matchmaking. Two wrongs don't make a right, and with those two being added together with each other makes two very strong wrongs. I don't care what you or bungie says, the current matchmaking settings DOES NOT prioritize a good quality connection first and then looks for players in your skill pool. I have my own experiences that proves otherwise. Being in the top 8% (and no I'm not trying to brag, I'm simply stating that to back my experience due to this game prioritizing skill) I have an EXTREMELY small player pool for the matchmaking to pull from, even after the recent update. It makes things pure hell on earth. You don't get it because your player pool is much greater so your odds of having a better connection match is more likely. You don't get to experience the negative side effects of SBMM, sure you might have laggy matches as well, but that's due to the awful nature of p2p matchmaking. You know things are fućked up when trials is becoming more casual than regular crucible. You can sit there and wipe your card after every 3 wins or so and your connections and the players you go against makes it much easier than regular crucible. Even though trials is supposed to the most "competitive" form of Destiny pvp aside from sweats and tourneys. There are much better ways of solving this problem that better supports ALL sides of the playerbase. Sitting here saying that you support SBMM over CBMM is basically saying you support what's wrong with Destiny's pvp and you don't mind how things are currently going.

very well said

Very well written. Having ranked and unranked playlists is a very very great midway solution that would please a majority of the community. I can't imagine something like that getting backlash of practical forms. Sorry for misinterpreting what you wrote in the first post you made, it was worded in a way that seemed as though I wanted CBMM and somehow that negatively impacted high end players, which I see now you know to clearly not be the case. This next part may seem disrespectful but I am trying my best. Most people don't worry much about the high end because they are the minority. Pleasing one majority is always easier than multiple minorities, so their viewpoints often go unheard. Now that I have received the knowledge of how it differs from my experience I can better sympathize for people in your grouping. While not the most efficient solution, having a ranked and unranked playlist would definitely be the most enjoyable.

Editado por The Researcher: 1/6/2017 12:55:21 AMRight now it's STOMP or BE STOMPED. I also rarely saw red bars before, but I guess seeing them even less is nice.

You never played Halo3.

I did and it had very successful SBMM as attempted in Destiny.

Yes, social had no SBMM, but ranked did. As I said previously, having separate ranked and unranked playlists would be best case scenario but doesn't seem likely.
Yes, social had no SBMM, but ranked did. As I said previously, having separate ranked and unranked playlists would be best case scenario but doesn't seem likely.
You also said that SBMM would create "fair" matches when it couldn't be any further from the truth. Because one person is a 2500 ELO, it for example would put the on a team with only 1000 or below. The enemy team would be 1500+ and from another country usually because they are the only team MM can find to create a "fair" match. The match would be the 2000+ ELO trying to back pack the entire team for the game, while a bunch of good players have a field day on bad players. This is usually every game when playing alone or close to it. Highly skilled players shouldn't be forced to run a full team simply because MM thinks that a fair match is the skilled player carrying an entire team. Connections are usually garbage and teammates like wise. SBMM is a great for those who are average or close to it.

Ding dong you're wrong
-
Why is that?
-
CBMM was in place in year one and it worked a lot better than the current system. SBMM is aids and it is impossible to say that there is still a lot of lag with cbmm.
-
Both were and still are in place. Their weight has been changed since then for sure. As for lag, most can say the year one matchmaking was the laggiest of all and had poor priority in comparison to current day.
-
That's false
-
And why is that?
-
Nah I play the same people over and over that are either known in the sweaty community or are from across the globe... still.
-
So you're saying you haven't noticed any improvement or regression in either area with the change in systems and it's been equally crap with each?
-
I took a 2 month break from the game I recently came back, honestly it feels the same and I'm still going against the same people.

Editado por Boomstick1911: 1/4/2017 11:22:37 PMYou call a lobby full of red bars fair? Bullshit. If you don't like getting your ass kicked, then don't play. It's that simple. I've had far less lag since the MM was revised, and I am not the only one. Moreover, the culprits of said lag are far easier to spot now. Usually it narrows down to one red bar in the lobby and his latency is fairly obvious. People are mad because they believe they are entitled to easy games. They think they're entitled to have everything in Destiny (likely along with everything else in their useless lives) handed to them with little to no effort. I've grown tired of this mentality of self entitlement and laziness. it's time it came to an end. Permanently.
