Yeah dude it's pretty stupid, do you remember the days when you paid for a game and got everything? Now it's all 20$ for this and 10$ for that.

I said every second though. And yeah, a lot of games use that model, most of them are dying though. World of Warcraft has seen better days, for example. Most of the games that use it are older as well to my knowledge, and it's a practice that's been around for a long while -as well, not that it matters. ESO recently rid of its subscription
