I'm Maxiie. I'm a Year 2 [TTK] player and 1 year lover of this game.
I'm writing this to discuss what not only myself, but other guardians are taking notice of in the community. There's a LOT of negativity. between, these forums, twitter, Facebook, & reddit. It's not the amount of shit being said, it's what is being said. From both sides of The Crucible to The front lines of the Plaguelands, aka the connection bars/game type to not being rewarded enough.
Before I have you jumping down my throat, please note: I understand. Both sides of the game are something near and dear to my heart, crucible took me a while to get warmed up too and I will openly admit that connections to my games were absolute garbage. (I'd have anywhere from 3-6 people redbarring per game) Until recently, I was never satisfied with my games. when it came to pve, I could tell you how to run all the raids forwards and backwards. I could do the same for nightfalls if I tried hard enough, but again until Rise of Iron, I wasn't satisfied with the stuff I was being awarded, I'd do 4-5 warsats or public events in a week and get shit. it was frustrating.
Did I bitch? Hell yeah I did. Did I complain? You bet. Here's the thing though - Things changed, and I got.over it. There was no longer a reason to bitch or complain. During this last run of iron banner as rift, I was a salt machine.
I personally don't enjoy rift as much anymore since I fell pretty hard for control & clash, I sucked it up. I took a break, I didn't stress myself by getting all 3 characters to rank 5, I stepped away from the game in general.
On twitter, there was a good 2-3 weeks where there was more negativity in the community that I've seen in my short time. It feels like over there, we've gotten most of it out of our feeds, but I saw a tweet about the forums that really rubbed me the wrong way.
Which is why I'm here typing this damn post. We are a huge community, and we have more love and support for one another than most communities I've been in personally. When negativity impacts one piece of the community, it impacts all of us. Period.
More or less what I'm trying to say: I want to know why there's so much negativity. Start a damn discussion. Most of us are adults here, not just by age but I've run into some pretty mature teenagers too.
So, let's talk.

For me personally, it's the fact that you need a full team of friends to do anything worthwhile in the game ... And my friends get bored pretty easily. I hate having to count on other people being available to be able to get that exotic weapon or whatever. I managed to keep busy enough for the first two years. I used lfg and such, which was inconsistent at best. My friends list is full of people I played with one time. So after two years, I've finally figured out this is not a game for solo players. It was a good run. I can't say I didn't get my monies worth. But I doubt I'll even give Destiny 2 a second glance. Finding consistent friends with like schedules and such is just too big a pain at this point. I uninstalled the game a while back, but still check with the forums in the hopes that something has changed. Clearly that will never be the case, so it's not logical I know. Despite the criticism, no one can say this game was a bust. Even I, a guy who plays games solo or with one or two friends, enjoyed it for a very long time.

It's always been this way, because we expected something else. Day one player here. You go through stages of disallusionment. I missed both festivals of the lost because I got sick of the game at the same time each year. Took three months off, came back. Nothing gets fixed because the people crying for change are idiots. You don't remember, but the very first change that people lost their shit over was Fireteam chat. It used to not exist. "How are we supposed to talk to our team?" Bungie added it and exactly .0001% of people use it. This trend repeats all the time. Bungie appeases the masses and doesn't add any value to the game. Mainly the reason I get frustrated is I am disappointed. There is so much potential that is flushed away. Hopefully destiny 2 will remedy that. So in the meantime, all we can do is be vocal and complain so that Bungie is aware of what needs to happen in D2.

Because people are FORKING stupid! That is why there is soooo much negativity. Nice post though, have a good day. ☺

Stay off the forums then

1 RespuestaIf you didn't play during year one, you wouldn't understand. The grind was real in year one.

9 RespuestasHmmm. I do not get it. Online negativity?? If you get upset by someone online then you have serious issues. Who cares what people say online. If your a special little snowflake that's triggered so easily go to a feminism protest. Shout at at the "patriarchy". Why is everyone a puśśý these days. Self righteous arrogant fools. People really need to stop this safe space boĺĺockś

3 RespuestasIm not trying to criticize you here maxiie, but i honestly dont get it when people get wrapped up in online negativity. Its subjective to negative people, and can only affect us online if we actively participate in it. Just like in real life, its easily avoidable. If somebody you know is a dick or is just generally mentaly exhausting to be around, we generally avoid those people right? And we make friends with people we like and who we share mutual interests with. Same applies online. The negativity on twitter, forums, facebook or whatever, it only exists if you take part in it. Its so easy to just mute people you dont want to see, or to steer away from debates you dont agree with. Ive muted literally 100's of people on here. And i dont doubt people have also muted me at some time or another. And these days its a better time around here for me. I dont see the negative posts from the usual suspects on here anymore, and i see more of the posts from people whos posts i like to read, like anonpig lore, maximus unofficial weekly update etc. As the saying goes, sometimes ignorance is bliss lol.

4 Respuestas1. The closer and the more intimate two people are, the more passionately they argue. Its why you see couples screaming at each other in public, and not best friends. 2. Social media and the ease of communication while wonderful in allowing for feedback and free-flow of communication between developers and gamers....it has also fostered a sense of entitlement. A sense of, "If I just voice my distress loudly enough and long enough, Developer X, will change the game and give me what I want." Sort of the same mentality (only slightly more sophisticated) of a 2 year old throwing a tantrum. So a lot of this negativity is simply that sense of "My $60 entitles me to a game custom-tailored to my personal preferenes' 3. There is a generational mistrust and hostility towards corporations. Given their role in getting us (The US) into two wars under dubious circumstances, and crashing the economy in 2008 (which has never fully recovered), corporations has a group have earned that distrust. But corporations have different personalities and different characters just like people....so treating them as if they are all the same is as short-sighted as treating a particular race or ethnic group like they are all the same. 4. This game---in particular---had a rocky start due to Bungie's inexperience with RPG games....and the fact that this game has attracted and attempted to meld into a single community two types of gamers that usually don't come into contact with one another. Shooter gamers and RPG games are VERY different...and generally want VERY different things out of gaming. So what will please one group with likely annoy the other....and vice versa. For eample SRL last year was the PERFECT seasonal event for the MMO-RPG gamer. The sort of event that makes a game world feel alive, and make it a fun place to spend time and play in. Whereas pure shooter gamers looked at it and threw their hands up in frustration and shouted "Why did Bungie waste resources on this, WE WANT MORE CONTENT (i.e more things to shoot in the face.)" So how does Bungie address RPG gamer's (legitimate) complaints that the game world is "dead" (no way to interact with anything other than shooting it)....while at the same time keeping those gamers who primary interest in the game IS the ability to shoot tings happy all at the same time?? Bungie---to their credit---is trying to figure this out...and write the "guide book" as they go.

1 RespuestaI definitely understand the community's concerns about connections, rewards, etc. However, I choose to look at the positives of the game. Take Hawkmoon for example, I searched far and wide during year 1 for this beauty but never got it. Instead of complaining, I just found other weapons to have fun with. When TTK came out I was finally able to buy Hawkmoon from Xur, but sadly Bungie had nerfed it into the ground. Again, I could have complained but I just constantly reminded myself that I finally had Hawkmoon and could use it in PvP and PvE. It's all about just looking at the good side of every situation. - Mr. Bladedancer

1 RespuestaEditado por Old_Partner: 12/13/2016 9:43:11 PMI love destiny. I hate liers of any type. Bungie tells lies about release dates all the time. The information is correct in America but not the rest of the planet. But that's not the cause of why bungie is lying. Bungie thinks they are above the law. If bungie knows no one will sue them then they will exploit it to bungies full advantage. Like bungie saying stuff and forcing the whole planet to do what the American Guardian are doing without respect for the rest of the planet. Djee today tried to cover Bungies arse. He posted the team that translates American into your country's language. Please l beg you join your country's group that has your country's bungie staff in it. Then the rest of the planets disgruntled Guardians might have a leg to stand on. If bungie staff talk to bungie staff on behalf of one country Bungie would be bloody stuipid to ignore there own staff. Up until now other country's are ignored by Bungie america and its hurting the rest of the planet.

3 RespuestasWell, to be honest, if you're not a beta player I really don't care what you think about Destiny or the people playing it. Is that negative enough for you?

Check out the post I made recently, I feel like it's pretty relevant to this I didn't want to make a huge wall of text as a reply, it's pretty long

As I type this I note I'm telling you what you you already know... This forum isn't the community, it's only a fraction of it. I generally don't use these forums anymore & neither do my buds. The negativity here is as it always has been. There are a lot of factors, ranging from too much emotional investment, trolling, the ease of posting & the lack of moderation on these particular forums etc. End of the day, it's a good game. It's better than it was. The devs are listening to feedback & making changes. It's an old game & it's still got an active community. Take the hate with a grain of salt.

When opinions clash, this is what happens. This is pretty much simply human nature at this point.

1 RespuestaThe game is in a poor state, and the community is reflecting that. People are just flat out pissed, and that's resulting in the loads of negativity we are seeing. In sports, there is a saying that winning cures everything. That applies to our situation as well. If the game was in a better place, we wouldn't be where we are now.

2 RespuestasHey you suck
-
I'm all for negatively

1 RespuestaI can't speak for other players, but my reason for the negativity is I've seen the potential, and what this game COULD have been. All of the pre-release footage and hype around this game set it up for failure, and with all of the information that leaked out that proved that activision had split the game up, and simplified confirmed many people's worst fears. We were sold a different game then what was promised, and we're still disappointed. We want this game to be what we thought it was going to be, and not the 6/10 that we got. Destiny is a fun game, but that in no way means it is good. I think the negative attitude of the community reflects that year one sentiment because we want the game that was promised.

3 RespuestasUh...... Its....so...hard... to....not...spread...salt... The...urge.. ;)

Some people are just toxic. I've come to realize from my time playing that it doesn't matter what bungie does this community will always complain about everything. Look at cod for example. The cod community has been bitching about a "boots on ground" cod for years and now that they've done it all people do is complains about it anyways. Something about shooters just makes everyone angry about everything for some reason.

Your post just put me in a negative mood tbh....
