Twas the night before Dawning

Twas the night before Dawning, when all through the Tower. Not a creature was stirring, nor any power The stockings were hung by the bank vault with care, In hopes that Xur soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of Guardains danced in their heads. And Eris in her ‘kerchief, and I in my mask, Had just settled our Ghosts for a long winter’s nap. When out on the city there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the gunsmith to see what was the matter. Away to the railing I flew like a flash, Knocked over the sweeper and kicked up his pile of trash. The Traveller shined on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a small hooded figure, and eight tiny thrall drew near With a little old driver, so lively and astir I knew in a moment it must be Xur. More rapid than titan skaters his coursers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name! "Now Deej! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Cozmo! On, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the Tower, to the top of the wall, but watch out for Randall so that he may not fall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!" As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the house-top the Thralls they flew, With the sleigh full of Masks, and good old Xur too. And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little foot. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney Xur came with a bound. He was dressed all in black, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of guns he had flung on his back, And he looked like the Cryptarch , just opening his pack. His tentacles they twinkled! his glowing eyes how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose who knew how many, His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the tentacles of his chin was as white as the snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth And the smoke it encircled his hood like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly! He was skinny and plump, a right jolly old entity, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself! A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his tentacle And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose! He sprang to his ship, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight, "Happy Dawning to all, and to all a good-night!" Edit: Wow guys 50 likes! I added Randall to the poem now I think it's complete. Happy Dawning! Edit2: Woke up this morning and this post has over 200 likes. Thanks again everyone and just over one hour to go!! Edit 3: I think snow is starting to fall on the tower. Edit4: 300 likes, thanks everyone. Also to those saying I'm stealing someone else's work, I do give full credit to the original creator of Twas the night before Christmas. But considering the Dawning is the Destiny spin on Christmas, then this goes hand in hand. A Destiny spin on a popular Christmas poem. Final edit: The Dawning is upon us Guardians! Grab your sparrows and open your presents! Happy Dawning!
